A Twitter user asked Triple H if he was a "Vince McMahon Guy", a "Ric Flair Guy" or a "Killer Kowalski Guy". Triple H responded:
<blockquote class='quote\\_blockquote'><dl><dt>Triple H</dt><dd> </dd></dl><div>
"I'm a Triple H guy."
[/quote]
The question was a reference to the "Paul Heyman Guy" trend which peaked last year. CM Punk announced during his famous "Pipe Bomb" promo in 2011 that he was a "Paul Heyman Guy". This was because Paul Heyman had played an instrumental role in getting Punk signed by the WWE, and then finally brought onto the ECW brand. The term particularly took off in 2012 when several stars credited their success to the support that Heyman had showed them at key times in their careers. While Punk, Brock Lesnar and Curtis Axel were being managed by Heyman at the same time, fans informally called the trio "The Paul Heyman Guys", even though they were not actually a team.
It is no secret that Triple H is the real-life Chief Operating Officer for the WWE, as well as Vince McMahon's real-life son-in-law. He is poised to take control of the company after McMahon retires. Triple H has been taken under McMahon's mentor-ship since 1997 since Shawn Michaels returned from a seemingly career-ending knee injury.
Triple H openly admits that Ric Flair was his favourite wrestler, and one of his inspirations for becoming a wrestler. Triple H would form a strong friendship with Flair after he rejoined the WWE in 2011. Flair served as a manager and team mate for a few years, particularly during the Evolution story line.
Triple H trained under Killer Kowalski, easily becoming the legend's most successful student. Other talents trained by Kowalski include Chyna, Perry Saturn and 'Big' John Studd.
