There is a myth circulating that Vince McMahon's phone number was accidentally posted on Twitter. This story is only a little bit true.
Hall Of Famer Bruno Sammartino made a last minute appearance at last week's Raw. Triple H contacted him so late that it was almost impossible to write him into the script. Jerry Lawler led the audience in singing 'Happy Birthday', as Sammartino turned 1 year older the night before.
Before and after the appearance, Sammartino walked around backstage, meeting wrestlers and staff members who were fans of his. One such fan was Steve 'Brooklyn Brawler' Lombardi. Lombardi had been working backstage in the WWE since his first run as a wrestler for the company. He posted a photo of himself meeting Sammartino on Twitter. A sign on the notice board clearly stated Vince McMahon's phone number. However, the last 3 digits were outside of the frame.
It has since been discovered that the phone number belonged to the arena that Raw was in. It was likely for the room that McMahon was using as an office that night. WWE staff had long vacated the building before the picture went online.
There is no word on whether or not the WWE followed this up in any way. But wrestlers have taken it upon themselves to be more careful when taking photos or videos backstage. There are some rumours that Lombardi intentionally cropped the number before posting the picture. But this is not the case as a Lombardi did not know the notice was there until some followers on Twitter pointed it out.
