Fans of Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards are hoping that they will be signed with the WWE. Things are starting to look very good right now.
The former Ring Of Honor Champions were turned down earlier this year by Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. They are looking to hire larger performers who are not established stars outside of the WWE. William Regal pressured Triple H into giving them another try as he felt they were very good.
Edwards and Richards are on a temporary deal until the end of the year. They are working as an enhancement talent tag team for the NXT brand. Named the American Pitbulls, they are NOT based on their own ROH tag team, the American Wolves. They are actually based on the short-lived WWE Tag Team the Pitbulls (which featured Kid Kash and Jamie Noble). Triple H’s feelings right now is that he only wants them as a tag team, or not at all.
They have developed a lot of supporters within the company, including trainers and agents, who are now pressuring Triple H to sign them. Edwards is being allowed to keep his remaining commitments with ROH, but has been warned not to accept any more bookings. Richards has also cancelled all of his upcoming Pro Wrestling NOAH appearances. These are more signs that the WWE are planning to sign them.
It was recently reported that Richards was injured. During a match against the Ascension, Richards took a nasty bump that caused a lot of concern. It was feared that he had sustained a neck injury as he was clearly hurt. He would later use the injury as his reason for cancelling the Pro Wrestling NOAH appearances. It is being suggested that his injury was minor, and he would not need to miss any ring time. This implies that he cancelled the appearances in order to chase this opportunity with the WWE.
