As previously reported, WWE Diva Layla has been out of action for several months now. As of right now, there are no plans for her return.

This does not mean that she is finished with the company. It was originally reported that she was given time off to recover from a personal issue. In December, it was revealed that she was actually recovering from an unknown medical problem. Right now, no-one knows what the medical issue really is. All they know is that she has not been involved with any WWE event during her absence, and a return is not currently scheduled.

Concern began last September when fans noticed that Layla had not posted any updates on her Facebook or Twitter accounts for over 3 weeks. Layla used to be one of the most active WWE personalities on social media, and was one of the few people who admitted to reading dirt sheet reports on occasion. When sites started reporting her online inactivity, she began posting updates again.

The only known truth right now is that there are no plans for Layla to return yet. This may simply be because she has not been medically cleared to get back into a ring. Online reports suggested that people within the company don’t think she will ever wrestle again.

A more vicious rumour is that Layla had contracted an STD. In addition to drug testing, all WWE performers are subject to health checks through the Wellness Policy. While some injuries are made public (e.g. concussions), the patient may request their right to confidentiality. Because Layla’s medical condition has not been made public, the rumour started that she had contracted an STD. Anyone with any kind of blood infection is not allowed to take any physical impact at WWE events until they have been given the all clear. But we must emphasize, this is strictly a rumour with no reliable sources or information to back it up.

Layla has responded to the reports on Twitter, simply saying that online reports are untrue and that she will be returning soon.
Additional: One of the websites that reported that Layla's suspected illness has since removed the article. This further demonstrates how unlikely the rumour is.
