VIDEO: Entire Rock promo & Cena exchange on Raw

WWE has released a 21-minute version of the entire Rock-Cena segment that concluded Monday's Raw. The video starts with Rock waiting out applause in the ring before starting his promo that was interrupted by Cena and ends with Rock closing out Raw at 11:20 p.m. EST.

Those of you who have known me longer know that I check out both arguments before giving my opinion. And this is no different. I have watched Cena' s promo, and I have watched this. TWICE.

I genuinely enjoyed both. But I still don't particularly want to see this match. Especially as the main event of WRESTLEMANIA.

A lot of people have forgotten, but there IS genuine heat between these guys.

Back in 2005, Cena was pushed to the moon. Cena had his first WWE Championship, movie and CD. All flopped. And a jealous Cena started blasting people the Rock in interviews for quitting for Hollywood. He complained about no selling, boring matches, too many main-events and titles, 6 moves of doom, rambling promos that depeneded on non-sensical catchphrases, and using the WWE to get into the movie industry. [Note: Irony].

Again, this had been happening FOR YEARS.

We already know that the Rock and Cena both are given free reign on the microphones. They are allowed to say whatever they want, just as long as the main point gets across.

As far as I am concerned, Cena finally said something worth listening too. An event that does not happen often. I don't believe that the Rock knew that those comments were coming. But the WWE are encouraging both men to make personal remarks. They want us to believe that they genuinely hate each other. Why should anyone care about who wins if they don't?

Some of the comments are a shoot, but the whole thing is a work.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it.. So did I, quite a bit actually...

We're also on the same page in terms of Cena/Rock not being the ideal main event for Mania... Which leads me to the question: What else can they do?

Surely not Cena/Kane as that whole exercise was largely a charade designed to pump Cena's tires before the big event. So all we've got is a rerun of Triple H and Taker from last year plus an oddball match between Rock and Cena which really has very little purpose for being in the first place.

On the bright side, - whatever you may think of Rock - at least he brings some star power to the table (albeit rusty star power), whereas from where I'm sitting, all Cena has to offer is the same old same old they try to jam down our throats every week.

With that in mind, I hope you'll pardon me for marking out over Rock, but truth is I really can't help it - mostly because I've been dying for someone to be given the freedom to actually shoot on Cena. Lord knows when this opportunity may ever come again so I'm determined to enjoy the shit out of it while I can.

Does anyone else find it weird that that Sheamus and Daniel Bryan will be fighting over a title in the first match as WrestleMania?

I mean, it appearently wasn't even good enough for the pre-show last year.

Just came across this on the news wire:

Quote:

The verbal battle between The Rock and John Cena on Monday's RAW Supershow from Portland was designed for Cena to get the upper-hand this time around. This was achieved by having Cena point out that Rock had notes for his promo written on his wrist. Some in WWE claim that Cena pointing this out was unscripted.

WWE officials are determined to get a 50/50 reaction for both men at WrestleMania 28 in Miami.
It seems there's some question as to whether the notes were deliberate or not. Perhaps further details will emerge.
I got a better idea, instead of making the men look evenly matches, why not make the match look interesting instead?

If they were evenly matched like Jericho and Michaels were meant to be at WM19, then fine. If they are evenly matched like Lesnar and Goldberg were meant to be at WM20, major problem. And Rock and Cena aspire to Lesnar and Goldberg ability.

Agreed...

Seems like a stupid idea. How in the world are they going to achieve a 50/50 crowd reaction in Rock's hometown? I mean honestly, give it up man! :timeout:

I forgot that it was the Rock's hometown. You made an excellent point.

If they want a 50/50 opponent for Cena, they should've made Khosrow Daivari his opponent.

I wonder if Cena can over-come these odds stacked against him? ^o)

The Muhammad Hassan character is banned from television.

There was an episode of SmackDown taped in England. During a match between Hassan and Undertaker, Undertaker knocked out Daivari. Four hooded men (including Mike Knox) ran down to the ring and tried to "Behead" the Undertaker with piano wire. The men later carried Daivari out of the room like he was a martyr.

On the day that it was broadcast in America, there was a genuine terroist attack in London. So the WWE angle was broadcast just hours later. After this, the network that hosted SmackDown in America believed that Hassan was a terrorist character, and voted that he may never be allowed on WWE programming again. The FCC later seconded this.

The Daivari character was deemed okay.

Which is a shame. It was one of the best gimmicks of the last 10 years.

Wow - can you say: Overreaction?!!

What's the big fear here? Do they honestly think if someone happens to see this character on TV they're going to suddenly become a card-carrying zealot and go out and commit a terrorist act? The ignorance is so thick it's almost unbelievable.
