During the Belfast show, ring announcer Justin Roberts pointed out Finlay and his parents in the audience. He led the crowd into a round of applause for the Northern Irish grappler. Finlay is currently working as an agent for the WWE. Finlay grew up in Carrickfergus, a small town on the edge of Belfast.
Wade Barrett was accused of “racial slurs†during the show in Dublin, but this story is greatly exaggerated. Barrett debuted the ‘Bad News Barrett’ gimmick that he uses on ‘The JBL and Michael Cole Show’. At the end of his heel promo, Barrett mocked the crowd by saying “God Save Our Queenâ€. Englishman Barrett is from the United Kingdom, which most of Ireland is not a part of. Only the northern part of Ireland (called Northern Ireland), recognises the Queen as their leader. The comment was only made to get a negative reaction, but was by no means a racial slur. Several fans threw rubbish into the ring at Barrett.
Also during the Dublin show, Roman Reigns tripped over the top rope while jumping into the ring. Tag team partner Dean Ambrose pointed and laughed at him, while the audience chanted “You Fell Overâ€. Later in the match, Big E Langston body slammed Seth Rollins. Reigns pointed at Rollins and told the crowd “That’s what I did.†This incident may help Reigns as there are plans to push him as a babyface in the near future.
The WWE normally dreads doing tours in the UK as they normally lead to a lot of headaches for the company. However, the company normally enjoys the Ireland / Northern Ireland leg. They are saying that this has been one of the company’s best trips to the countries. However, there is also suggestion that TNA’s last shows in the same arenas drew bigger crowds.
