A.J. Styles has injured another opponent with his Styles Clash finisher.
The latest victim is British Wrestler Lionheart. Lionheart had his neck broken by the move at the end of their match last week at a show in Preston, England. As this was the final match on the card, fans were asked to leave the building quickly so that Lionheart could get medical attention.
It was revealed earlier this week that Lionheart had his neck broken. A number of wrestling personalities, including TNA President Dixie Carter, have stated on Twitter that they were praying for Lionheart and his family. Strangely, Styles has not made any comment on the situation.
Roderick Strong was injured in similar circumstance in January this year. Styles made his return to Ring Of Honor in a match against Strong, and tried to finish this match with the Styels Clash finisher. In both incidents, Strong and Lionheart tucked their heads forward during the move. They landed on their heads, injuring their necks. However, Strong's injury was not as severe and Lionheart's injury.
Styles recently said in an interview that the first incident was all Strong's fault. He noted that the Styles Clash results in a facedown bump, and people taking the move should never move their heads forward. This would result in most of the impact being absorbed by the head and neck, and the attacker would be unable to prevent it.
