Cody is the biggest name on the card besides Rey, though.

I mean, the best wrestler is rarely the guy who has the best moves, it's the guy who can draw the most asses to seats.
Agreed, but I’d say Kenny and Okada are bigger draws on the card than Cody

tyler i think u r missing the whole point, its not about just one guy or how good they are, its the fact that a 10,000 seat arena was sold out by a non wwe entity and that hasnt happend in almost 20 years. Im not the biggest rhodes or bucks fan but there is alot of other deserving talent going to be there .
I think you're missing Tyler's point. He's just stating why he thinks this is an ego stroke and explaining why the listed wrestlers don't convince him.

He never said they're not good wrestlers or doubting their abilityto draw.

Omega is definitely a draw but he isn't nearly as well known over here in the states compared to international appeal.

Not yet, at least. Kind of an unspoken law of the indys: The former WWE guy trumps all.

on the subject of the bucks, don't they own the rights to their likenesses so wouldn't they own the rights to do whatever they want with the photo ? (i don't know much about copyright law) regardless it's a shitty thing to do, but in the spade of things it's on the more tame end of the scale for shit wrestlers have done.

cant argue with that. I'd also say character wise he is nearly just as good if not on par with Omega it's just his wrestling style is a little less enthralling(subjective to personal taste)

on the Australian front it looks like new japan are headed back here for another tour later this year. which is a smart move as i believe they sold out every show apart from Adelaide.

location wise Australia should be an easy market for new japan to crack. unlike the WWE their shows are on prime time and we are so much closer than any-other western county so travel time and jet lag are not a factor when deciding to do a local show.

I'd probably side with the photographer on this, though the bucks may own their likeness rights, photographers are hired and paid by the promoter and have every right to take pictures of the event they were hired for.

Removing their watermark is a dick move. Especially from an indy worker who understands how that could hurt their business. That photographer could have gotten a lot of traffic for that.

So yeah... dick move.

whelp

1. fuck you WWE for thinking Australia's not a viable market.
2. fuck you again.
and 3. fuck you and the horse you rode in on you utter cunts.

interesting WWE is looking to monopolize the market again just like they did in the 80's. it strikes me as odd however that they are going to try to break into the Japaneses market when they will never rival New Japan or any other promotions in the region because of the Japaneses culture, as they tend to support their own. hence why Microsoft's xbox have never made much headway in japan.
It’s not that they don’t think think it’s a viable market, it’s that there’s no major promotion for them to buddy up with, and it’s not like there’s a shit ton of people living in Australia like the 1 billion+ people living in India. They struck a deal with NOAH this morning, so yes, they will be moving into the Japanese market, through a collaboration with Noah. Itami will be wrestling for Noah on there 8/29 show.

They're already buying out indy promotions. They aren't looking to monopolize the market, they're looking to retain their monopoly.

And unless another eccentric billionaire decides he doesn't like Vince, they'll probably succeed.

we have 4 major promotions that could do with a leg up, we are a sport loving nation(this includes a sizeable wrestling fandom) and if you know anything about the history of wrestling in Australia you'll know it was a rather popular country for wrestling and wrestlers up until the late 70's when it died off because the cricket took it's TV spot on channel 9 however in the last two decades it has seen a massive resurgence.

the AWF my local promotion is rather popular and regularly does good business.

MCW, one of if not the most popular and recognizable promotions in Australia, they are based in Melbourne.

PWA, just had their biggest show ever with their joint show with progress wrestling at the star casino.

and finally World Series Wrestling a touring company that boasts plenty of international and home grown talent.

also if your not going to try and develop the local scene then stay the fuck outta it, if we're good enough for a major PPV that will no doubt smash their all time attendance record, then i think we're good enough for a localised NXT.

of mostly poor and working class people who cant afford to watch or go to shows, just look how their last tour went.

"We have an alliance with PROGRESS in the UK, a situation with ICW in Scotland, two very well run and respected promotions that do good business – but more importantly they are cultivating talent. They are not just exploiting talent and grabbing guys to do a show with them, they are teaching talent and trying to make them better, which is what it is all about for me."

"Is there opportunity for cross-promotional events?" Triple H said, "Absolutely, with the right things. It's a blank slate and I'm open to just about anything if the right situation shows itself."
Did you guys ever consider that maybe they don't have Australia date yet because they're still working out the details?

I mean.... you all are diving into this under the assumption that this is the final stage of all nxt tours. It isn't.

@champion gamer: India has a thriving middle and upper class that also has money. Let's not let stereotypes enter this conversation.
