I think the only problem with the face are the eyebrows that with such angle are giving a more passive look and so wouldn't fit much for a match. With Mabel you should go with a more menacing expression with frown/furrowed brows.

As a code-less workaround, try to select the regular face up lower body ground move a move that "look like" the Sharpshooter, either the Boston Crab or Single Leg Crab. So at least after the front special the AI will at least do a Boston Crab.
