Yeah, that's a big secret for hacking:

You DON'T have to be good at math. You have to be good at visualizing the translations of the addys and what the values do.

That's it.

For the people saying coding is easier than texture modding, are they being serious? I find texture modding way easier, it's pretty straightforward and you get instant results right as your working. perhaps those of us who enjoy the artistic side of modding NM are more frustrated by the coding side of things, while those who enjoy making up codes don't enjoy the graphical side of it?

The coding side, in my opinion, is much more artistic. You can't reach your true artistic potential with No Mercy without it.

And I've literally made hundreds of wrestler mods (which I also enjoyed).

And yes, it's easier. The basics are, at least.

Go make a master move mod. I'll wait right here. ;)

edit: We aren't WRITING CODE. Not technically, we're modding already existing code. If you keep that in mind it's easier to pick up what I'm throwing down.

I don't think anyone apart from WldFb and AJ187 really looked into ROM hacking and ASM until the last year or 2. From the ROM hacking side, it was just move sets and animations that were modified/added, now there's more than just that. We've found the polygon data within the ROM and now we can hard code new polygons into the games.
