Gearbox is continuing its fine tradition of Aliens: Colonial Marines gameplay movies, with a brand new story trailer which reveals some intriguing new details on the single-player campaign.

We've already enjoyed campaign and multiplayer movies and a look at Aliens Survivor mode, but this latest story trailer is packed with a wealth of detail for discerning Aliens fans.

For starters we get to see Corporal Dwayne Hicks' last distress signal from LV-426 and hear that all marines dispatched on the original mission from the USS Solaco 17 days ago can be considered KIA.

We're introduced to new squad leader Captain Cruz and get a glimpse of some of the marines like Bella and Winter from the USS Safora which will form the core of the new Colonial Marines squad.

You can also pick up loads of detail from about what happened after the events of the Aliens movie, when the atmospheric processors went up, and there's classic Aliens elements like the loaders, drop ship deployments and even a (blink and you'll miss it) cameo of new model Bishop.

Oh and then there's the Aliens, an absolute shedload of them. Perhaps best of all though this new trailer hows that Gearbox still has a great ear for Aliens dialogue.

"This is a liquid situation, in about 30 seconds that Horizon is going to turn black as the most dangerous killing machines in the universe rise up over it."

Stay frosty Marines. You can't afford to let one of those bastards in. Aliens: Colonial Marines release date is set for February 12th.[/quote]

I have waited close to 10 years for this. It was originally to be released for PS2 in 2002 and a BETA was posted. You can find it on Youtube somewhere.

What I love about this is the storyline. It seems to focus deeply on the events after Aliens that leads into Alien 3 and gameplay wise, WOW! I have pre-ordered this already and am so pumped for the release date.

I loved Aliens vs Predator (2010) especially playing with the Predator and Alien. Honestly I am not a fan of FPS games but playing AvP which is a FPS game was amazing. The environments beared resemblance to the Aliens and Predator movies franchise.

Never been a fan of first-person shooters, but I have to say, it's pretty awesome how the gun in that video sounds exactly like I remember from the films.

Seriously. When I posted a video of this game last year, I was seriously fucking excited for this release. Then gearbox or whatever they are fucking called took over and what promised to be a outstanding FPS turned out to be a nightmare of sorts.

Graphically, the PS3 and 360 versions are seriously last gen, compared to the PC version. The bugs/glitches in certain areas of the game are annoying as well as frustrating considering this game has been 5+ years in the making and when you compare how this game was going last year, it seems they took two steps back, instead of going forward. Now, that is unacceptable for a that should be so much better in everyway. However, I can see they got the accuracy of the environment nailed down to a "T". From the Sulaco, to Hadleys hope, to the derelict spaceship, its all accurate and does make me act like a little kid when I have to wield a door to prevent a alien from getting in. I will give them credit for that.

The gameplay is also questionable. I know you are a fucking marine and are packed with "State of the art fire-power", but sweet Jesus. You start the game with pretty much all the top kick ass weaponry and that for me is retarded. Sure, start with your pistol and Pulse Rifle, but pretty much every weapon?

The sense of fear, is something that really is lacking from this game. Aliens are supposed to be smart and outwit you, right? Wrong! The fucking come straight at you and you merely just have to blast them and 4 shots later they are melting and lie like a fucking granny in a retirement home. I mean, the aliens should be kicking our ass and making things a challenge and not make things easy. I felt that the game was just a "Shoot the fuck out of everything and dont worry, there only aliens and pose no challenge", well they dont. They come in numbers, and do have that cool hiss from the movies and look pretty neat, but they are retarded as fuck.

Now, the sound and music to the game. Pretty epic. I can see they took alot of the ideas from aliens and the music and environment sounds are a joy and certainly is one of the very few positives about this game.

The story itself is solid, but will not spoil that for you if you have not played the game yet. Lets say it starts off good then suddenly abruptly ends and your like "Is that it?" and thinking to yourself WTF! It is well written but the dialogue for the marines and co is dumb and really very basic at best. The cut-scenes are well done though.

This is not a great review and more of a rant. Personally this is for die hard Alien fans only. Reason being is this is just like any other FPS and really lacks the feeling of a true aliens shooter. If you have seen the films, you may appreciate this game more. I dont hate it, but was expecting so much more and just feel they gave the fans so much expectation and just gave us a half assed video game.

Personally AVP 2010 was better, just maybe pick that up at a bargain price and wait for ACM to drop down in price.

My biggest problem is the aiming, i fucking well have the crosshairs on an alien and it registers as me missing my shots alot of the time.

I have played campaign mode twice now and actually find it fun. The negative reviews are justified, but there is something about this game I really liked. I am hoping we see a Xbox 720 version in the future. AVP version would be welcomed though.

Also, please check this video out.

I know this was before Gearbox took over the game, but what on earth did they do to such a awesome game? Look at that video. If they game looked, played like it did on its release we would be cumming buckets. I still enjoyted it, but WTF.

Also, I know this video was running on a hi-end PC, but that was like 2 years ago and we got a DX9 game when it should have been a DX11 game. Conned!!

Say, I was pretty hyped up about the game and watched the playthrough for about 10mins, it isn't THAT bad from what I've seeb. What was different from the demo? And did ya download the patch? I'm actually thinking whether to get it or not.

The patch for the Xbox360 and PS3 only improves the gameplay, AI, Aiming etc and not the actual visuals as such. It helps but the game just lacks that intensity that was promised when the Demo was previewed last year and the game becomes more of a simple shooter than a Alien game.

The PC version however really is much better looking. If you DL the patch it improves the visuals by around 40% and is sharper. Obviously having a high end graphic card will make a difference. If you have a high end PC, get it on that my man, or if not, you can get the console versions for much cheaper now.
