Originally I intended to write a guide only covering practical uses for polygon point mods to create advanced arenas, but because I often find myself jumping from one thread (or even one forum) to another when hacking, maybe it's time all these resources get put into one place. So, I'm going to write an all-inclusive guide covering every aspect of arena hacking, from the bare basics to the more advanced uses. Any input from existing arena hackers is very much appreciated, and I'll try to answer any questions as best I can.
Section 1 of the guide will cover the basics of arena hacking (changing polygons and graphics, polygon movement and resizing), while section 2 will cover more advanced concepts, basically an expansion of Alex Underhill's Poly Modding Tutorial v0.6 (found here: http://users.skynet.be/fa255196/guide.htm) to explain the use of polygon point mods for making more detailed arenas, "animate" polygons that are not normally animated (such as stages), and with the use of button activators, also allow for more than one arena to be used within any given arena slot (with certain restrictions).
You will need:
Project64 1.7 (highly recommended that you use this, since it has a built-in memory editor function. Using Nemu or some other memory editor is possible, but this guide is written for PJ64 1.7).
Notepad: A must for arena hacking, especially once you get to poly point mods, you will need to take notes of any values that you change.
((I will break down the sections into their own posts, so if you don't see anything check back later and refrain from posting until I finish writing the guides!
9/29 edit: kept getting sidetracked- will update tomorrow and try to include sample arena))
