The WWE has announced that Rey Mysterio has been suspended due to a violation in their Wellness Policy.

<blockquote class='quote\\_blockquote'><dl><dt>Full Report on WWE.com</dt><dd> </dd></dl><div>
STAMFORD, Conn. – In accordance with its Talent Wellness Program, WWE has suspended Oscar Gutierrez (Rey Mysterio) for 60 days effective Thursday, April 26 for his second violation of the company's policy.
[/quote].

Mysterio has been out of action since July of last year. He had been working with a knee injury for two months before finally taking time off to get surgery. He has had four operations on his leg since disappearing from television, having re-injured his limb at one point.

Contrary to this report, this is actually Mysterio's THIRD violation. The rules of the Policy declare that anyone who fails a drug test without reasonable explanation (and supporting evidence) would receive a Wellness Policy violation, and would be announced on WWE.com, using their real name. The first violation comes with a 30 day suspension without pay. A second violation results in a 60-day suspension. The third violation results in termination of the employee's contract.

Mysterio was one of 12 WWE employees named in an investigation by Sports Illustrated. The publication learnt that a number of superstars had been ordering prescription-only steroids from an off-shore pharmaceutical company. All performers who were under contract (excluding Randy Orton) were given 1 violation of the Wellness Policy, and suspended accordingly.

On the 22nd of August, 2009, Mysterio earned his second suspension. He had been taking medical painkillers which he had not had a prescription for. However, he was only suspended for 30 days on this occasion. He was forced to drop the Intercontinental Championship before he left.

The Wellness Policy has received a lot of criticism from current and former WWE employees as it appeared to favor certain stars over others. They claimed that specific people are tested much less frequently than the rest of the roster, and even received advanced notice about upcoming tests. Some more seriously violations were met with fines instead of suspensions, and were not reported publicly.

Mysterio is not the first person to keep his job after 3 violations of the Wellness Policy, as Randy Orton has reportedly earned more than 4 violations so far. And there have allegedly been other employees that have also scored 3 violations.

There is no indication as to why he failed. But more than likely, he has been taking pain-killers which were not prescribed to him. He has done so before.

Mysterio has not been fired. His return has been delayed.

But I agree with Phil. Mysterio is in worse condition than Sting or Undertaker. I understand that the WWE really need a huge hispanic star, but they have been relying on Mysterio since 2002. Right now, the only thing holding his healthier leg together is the skin surrounding where his knee once was.

That, and his splash from the top rope just plain sucks.

And he is only using the splash because it hurts too much to simply fall off the top rope.

... still sucks. If he was smarter he would have come up with a submission finisher ages ago, not the weakest splash in wrestling history.

What could he use? Whatever it is, it must not involve using his own legs or supporting the opponent's weight. And he isn't strong enough to use moves like the Boston Crab or Texas Cloverleaf (because he has struggled keeping leg locks on heavyweights).

Maybe the Tazmission, perhaps?

Six Seconds Magic. Problem solved, and works perfectly for small guys.

Small guys with good leg strength. And Mysterio has destroyed his knees so much that he no longer falls into that category.

First rule of wrestling: You cannot use a finisher used by another wrestler in the same company, unless it is to further a storyline.

Del Rio uses the armbar as a finisher.

You don't need fantastic leg strength for the six seconds magic... just enough to hold on to for SIX SECONDS.

Time will tell. Mysterio has 59 more days to practice it.

I hate to admit it, but I laughed out loud at that comment. But the sad part is that might happen in the next few years if he doesn't retire.

Most likely he's taking extra painkillers because the knee surgeries has caused him much pain. Anyway, how exactly did he fuck up his knees so bad? I can't seem to remember his moveset have him landing on his knees alot.
