It is being reported that WWE and WCW alumni Sean O'Haire has died.

The news first went public with a tweet by former WCW star Scotty Riggs. This is not the first time that Riggs broke the news of a former WCW-talent passing away, so his claim was supposed as genuine. This was followed up with another tweet by former tag team partner Mark Jindrak who also shared his condolences.

Very little is known at the moment other than he died at his home in Spartanburg, South Carolina this past Monday. The really shocking part was that he was only 42.

O'Haire was popular with promoters because of his height, physique and natural good looks and athleticism. He was a part of the Natural Born Thrillers stable with similar stars like Jindrak, Chuck Palumbo and Shawn Stasiak. He and Palumbo were WCW Tag Team Champions when the company was bought out by WWE. He brought the titles into WWE as part of the InVasion story line, but quickly disappeared due to injury.

He then returned with his famous "cruel intentions" gimmick. While looking like the villain from the Jean-Claude Van Damme movie 'Replicant', O'Haire would urge fans and other superstars to engage in immoral behaviour because it was fun. This lead to iconic SmackDown moments including Brian Kendrick running naked through an arena and Dawn-Marie exposing her breasts to the live crowd. Even though O'Haire picked up a cult-like following, he never got any real commitment from management and never went anywhere. He was eventually released due to budget cuts within 3 years of joining the company. It was also rumoured that O'Haire developed a very bad backstage attitude, resulting in many people not wanting to work with him.

Even though O'Haire never won a single title during his time in WWE, he does have a victory over Hulk Hogan. O'Haire has won the WCW World Tag Team Championship 3 times, twice with Jindrak and once with Palumbo. He had also reportedly won 17 toughman competitions in his homestate.

He has worked for various indy promotions and internationally since, even dabbling in mixed martial arts competition. He had a brief run as a professional kickboxer too. As unlikely as it may seem, he owned and ran his own barbershop and worked as a hairdresser there. However, he was frequently arrested for violent behaviour.

We already lost the Ultimate Warrior, Mae Young and Nelson 'Viscera' Frazer this year. Young is the only one of the four to live past 55.

Another wrestler from the same era gone...

Can I point out an observation?
"However, he was frequently arrested for violent behaviour."
His first bout of violence that got him arrested was a short few months after his motorbike accident,
I honestly think he received serious brain damage before or due to his accident.
Brain damage can make you more violent, harder to work with (memory, anger issues etc) ... he showed all those things around that time, it would explain why he was KO'd easily in K1 too.

Well this was depressing.

Wish Piper didn't do that interview with HBO,maybe he and O'Haire would've been Tag Team Champions,Guerrero would turn on Tajiri anyway.I was a big fan of this guy.

I know a great deal about head injuries, but not much about Sean O'Haire's physical or mental health.

His unprofessional conduct was said to have begun after his first stint in OVW (well before the motorcycle accident).

O'Haire was injured often in real life brawls and during his kickboxing and MMA fights. So he may have sustained brain damage. All I know for certain is that he has not been receiving treatment for head injuries.

I did not know that it happened OVW, he possibly (and wrongly) thought he didn't need to listen due to his time in wCw's Powerplant, which is a shame for his career and more importantly his colleagues.

...alot things to say on/ask about this subject to be honest.
Maybe some other time.

It's quite sad, really. Apparently his Dad found him hanged himself in his room. And by then, it was already too late.

His senton bomb was AWESOME.

Sad when I heard the news, 2014 is being pretty merciless on wrestling fans and the families of wrestlers.
