A 'rib' is another term for a pratical joke. So this is essentially a list of pratical jokes played by people within the professional wrestling industry.
Warning: Just like regular pratical jokes, some of these are actually just mean, and may not be funny.
* At the end of 2011, William Regal was granted a WWE World Heavyweight Championship title match against his protege Daniel Bryan. As Regal made his way to the ring, his regular theme song was replaced with his "Real Man's Man" theme song. The song was only used for 3 weeks when Regal first signed with the WWE.
* Mickie James made very little money during her first several years in professional wrestling. In order to make ends meet, she appeared in a in an adult movie, and a few adult photo shoots. During her time in the WWE, James stood up for Melina during an argument with Batista's then boyfriend Batista. Batista got revenge by printing many of these pictures and then putting them around the arenas they performed in.
* Despite being one of the most over stars in TNA Wrestling, Chris 'Abyss' Parks used to be very insecure about his job. He was constantly asking his superiors and collegues if he was in danger of being fired. When Team Canada split, Eric Young's character became worried about his job and generally scared of most things. This was a pop at Parks.
* For a brief period, Eric Young donned a superhero gimmick called 'Super Eric'. Super Eric formed a stable with Shark Boy and Curry Man. The trio called themselves the 'Prince Justice Brotherhood'. Yes, this is another pop at Abyss, who once wrestled under the name 'Prince Justice'.
* Most WWE superstars love performing in the annual 'Tribute To The Troops' shows, but just hate the long plane journeys there and back. Big Show bought a specially made air-bed for the plane. Vince McMahon cut a hole in the bed, causing it to deflate once Big Show lay down on it.
* Triple H got in on that last joke. He convinced Big Show that the hole could be repaired with duct tape. It worked... for 90 seconds when the bed deflated again.
* Ryback's catchphrase 'Feed Me More' is a rib against Ryback. WWE trainers were constantly stunned by how much and how often Ryback ate.
* In the Summer of 2011, Mark Henry was told that he had a match against an undecided opponent after the taping of an episode of SmackDown ended. Furious that he was not able to plan the match, Henry was already in bad mood when he reached the ring. Multiple entrances themes and videos were played, but no-one came out for the match.
* After 10 minutes, Henry marched out. Vince McMahon came up with this idea. When McMahon learned how Henry had reacted, he wrote it into a storyline and gave Henry a push.
* X-Pac once allegedly cut-off Michael Hayes' ponytail and stapled it to a wall.
* Before a WCW show, an unknown superstar hid Billy Kidman's luggage. Builders found the bags four years later when they were restructuring a wall.
* Chris Jericho once left the Intercontinental Championship belt in his hotel room. As there was not enough time to go get it, Jericho was made to take a different belt to the ring. It was the Women's Championship belt, covered with black tape.
* During a dark match, Perry Saturn attacked an unsigned talent for real. As a punishment, Saturn was given the gimmick of a pernamently concussed man who developed an affectionate relationship with a mop. Strangely, this gimmick brought Saturn to the peak of his popularity, thus bringing him in much more money.
* As a joke, Saturn named one of his finishing moves the 'Three Handed Moss Covered Cordenza'. This was a reference to a WCW segment in which Chris Jericho attempted to name 1,004 wrestling holds. Most of Jericho's move names were just random collections of words. 'Three Handed Moss Covered Cordenza' was the first to be read out.
* Roddy Piper once mocked a WrestleMania opponent by painting one side of his entire body black. No-one understood this joke. Someone (allegedly Andre the Giant) emptied the only available bottle of make up remover and filled the bottle with water. As a result, Piper had to catch his flight with the body paint still on his face and hand.
* During the first WWE Badd Blood pay-per-view, Eric Bischoff was scheduled to take a Bronco Buster from Mae Young, who would be wearing skimpy underwear. Despite objecting to it, he finally agreed. Young took his earlier objection personally, and placed a rotten kipper on her crotch before the stunt.
* As part of the 'WWE Saturday Night Main Event' relaunch, Stone Cold Steve Austin was scheduled to be in a 'drinking contest' with JBL. When JBL explained that the contest would last for 1 minute, Austin made an unscripted comment. Austin said, "So I guess you're the original minute man." After a moment, JBL responded, "So you've been talking to my wife, huh?".
* During the 2005 draft, Angle was re-drafted to the Raw brand during a promo by Triple H. Triple H was supposed to ask Angle what he was doing there, and then let Angle answer. But Triple H added a snide comment. Angle responded "I just got tired of making out with your wife every week." This was a reference to several romance storylines that Angle had been involved in with Stephanie McMahon, Triple H's real-life wife.
* Mr. Socko once got busted open. Mick Foley had hidden a small sandwich bag with fake blood inside his glove. So when Foley punched the exposed turnbuckle, the mixture seeped through Mr. Socko. Vince McMahon is said to have hated the stunt.
* Curt 'Mr. Perfect' Hennig used to mentor Brock Lesnar. He advised Lesnar that he would become popular with the crowd if he could leapfrog over an opponent, and dropkick him in the back before his feet hit the ground. Lesnar attempted the stunt in his match against Spike Dudley. Hennig knew that Lesnar was too heavy to perform the move, and would fall on his face. Once this had happened, Dudley jumped onto Lesnar's back and repeatedly slapped Lesnar's head.
* Due to Andre the Giant's large height, he had to be careful every time he got knocked down. If he fell the wrong way, he could easily break his neck on one of the ring ropes. So he prefered to fall onto the ropes, using his arm for safety. The Ultimate Warrior would run at Andre as hard as he could, and then hit the hardest clothesline that he could. One night, Andre held out his fist, and Warrior ran face-first into it. Andre looked to Bobby Heenan and said, "He's learning."
Mr. McMahon was keen to make 'Million Dollar Mania' a success. But he had trouble reading, hearing and dialing phone numbers. So he requested that someone helped him. His first assistant was Charlie Haas. This was supposed to be a joke because McMahon repeatedly complained about Haas being boring.
* After Mark Henry won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, he attacked Jerry Lawler. Cole was supposed to play up the internal damage that Lawler has suffered on the next episode of SmackDown. No-one expected Cole to make the now famous "Anal bleeding" comment.
* Jim Ross needed important surgery on his colon. To excuse him from television, he was humiliated by the entire McMahon family, including getting kicked in the crotch by Linda. One week later, Vince McMahon stared in a mock-up video of the surgery. It involved "Dr. Slobberknocker and Nurse Heinie" pulling various objects from Jim Ross' rectum, including a replica of Ross' own head.
* After an episode of Raw went off the air, some wrestlers sent Big Dick Johnson down to the ring to dance for Jim Ross. Wearing nothing but baby oil and a nappy, Johnson climbed onto the announce table and girated in front of Ross. Ross responded by punching him in the testicles.
* In the mid '00's, the WWE went on a frenzy of hiring swimsuit models with no wrestling experience. Many of the single men on the roster could not resist persuing the girls, even though most were in long-term relationships or married. Orton got so fed up with the constant rejections that he used to prank anyone who said No to him. One of his stunts included putting stuff into Rochelle Lauren's luggage, making it appear as if someone had defacated in it.
* Shortly after Amy Weber debuted in the WWE, some of her collegues discovered that the young actress once had a lesbian scene in a little known film. The taunting got so bad that she quickly resigned.
* The Miz's birthday surpise was genuine. Miz had a genuine crush on Layla, and thought that his dreams had come true when Layla was instructed to give him a lap dance at the No Mercy pay-per-view. The dancer was quickly replaced with Big Dick Johnson while Miz was blindfolded.
* Hardcore Holly once attacked Rene Dupree for real during an untelevised show. As a punishment, Holly was put into an embarassing sketch involving the Tough Enough finalists. They were told to dress as women, and then flirt with Holly. Holly was notoriously homophobic.
* Petey Williams once referred to Rhaka Khan as "Cloverfield". Williams had actually forgotten the scripted comment, and substituted this insult instead.
Warning: Just like regular pratical jokes, some of these are actually just mean, and may not be funny.
