Quote:

-- During an interview with TheState.com to promote tonight's WWE SmackDown taping from Columbia, South Carolina will feature some "major announcements." He said, “I’m glad Columbia is the site for whatever they have planned. We will give the fans the best possible show possible.”

-- With Randy Orton now having two Wellness Policy strikes against him, there has been a lot of discussion about his future in WWE.

WWE has typically been reluctant to get behind wrestlers that are one drug test failure away from a mandatory firing, but former WWE writer Seth Mates points out on Twitter that the company actually put the WWE Championship on Jeff Hardy when he had two strikes against him. CM Punk quoted the tweet and responded:

“@SethMates: Interesting web buzz re: Orton's future. remember when @JEFFHARDYBRAND had 2 strikes & they put wwe title on him?”

It is interesting how really tiny pieces of information are being leaked at the time. Each time, they insist that this is Orton's second violation. It is like they are genuinely trying to convince people that this is not his fourth violation (after FIVE faults).

Well, you see, if they do fire Orton, chances is that he may go to TNA and never come back if the pay is good. Even though WWE can rehire him back after a year.

If they don't fire him and keep him in mid-card, all past investments on him will be wasted, not to mention the amount of salary they are paying him now.

And of course you have the 3rd choice, which is keep him at main event level and maybe win the title soon. That sends a wrong signal to rest of the talents, either showing that Orton is protected by the management or that any main eventer would be given chances though they made major mistakes.

Styles, I do understand all of your points. But for someone like Orton, I believe that the WWE should take the risk.

The simple truth is, Orton is not learning his lesson. And rewarding him with huge pay-checks, main event placement and major title matches is not a deterrent. There is a myth that certain steroids can be masked with marijuana. So instead of changing his ways, Orton is trying harder to cheat the tests.

There is a bigger story here. Throughout the 80s and 90s, a lot of wrestlers mixed steroids with alcohol. And some took stronger drugs and marijuana. Look at how many of them died because of their excesses over the last 10 years. If Orton does not modify his behaviour now, he could become another wrestling tragedy in the near future. Repeatedly rewarding him for dangerous behaviour will only encourage him to keep doing these things.

Which reminds me...how come he's still so skinny even when he uses steroids? What risk are you talking about? Putting him to midcard or fire Orton?

Steroids do not just increase muscle mass. In fact, most of them are designed for weight loss and fat metabolism. And then there are those that improve physical ability for a short time.

And Orton has failed the wellness policy twice before for taking "cocktails". Basically, this is taking steroids to counter the negative effects of other steroids that he is taking.
