As previously noted, the WWE announced on their website that they had released Alberto Del Rio over an incident with another employee and unprofessional conduct. However, Del Rio has caused many headaches for the WWE in his short tenure.

Del Rio is the real-life nephew of Mil Mascaras and the son of Dos Caras. He became a big name in Mexico as Dos Caras, Jr. After signing with the WWE, Del Rio required time in developmental in order to adjust to the wrestling style used in the WWE. Del Rio asked for his release a few weeks later as he was unhappy with pay at that level. This prompted the WWE to promote him to the main roster too early. To make matters worse, Del Rio almost immediately revealed that he planned to retire within a few years. He would repeat this many times, adding that he did not plan to sign a new contract when his first deal expired.

Throughout his run in the WWE, Del Rio would be involved with many altercations with fellow employees. He quickly built a reputation for himself as a backstage politician. He was also known for his short temper and openly complaining a lot.

Del Rio was scheduled to defend the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam 2013, but showed up with heavy facial bruising. Rumours circulated that he and Drew McIntyre had been in a real-life brawl with civilians.

However, the WWE insisted that the injuries were caused by Daniel Bryan during a match, but this was not the case. In response to the rumours, McIntyre posted a photo on Twitter of himself shortly after the alleged fight. The photo showed that McIntyre was neatly groomed and did not show signs of having been in a fight.

The next night, Del Rio openly lost his temper with (the original) Sin Cara on a live episode of Raw. Sin Cara botched a dive to the outside and hit Del Rio in his bruised face, but then asked for the match to be stopped after hurting his own fingers. Del Rio responded angrily by stiff kicking Cara and swearing repeatedly.

Throughout his stint in the WWE, Del Rio injured a lot of people with his stiff kicks. His kicks have concussed over a dozen opponents, including Dolph Ziggler THREE times.

There was also major heat on Del Rio for how he handled Batista’s return earlier this year. Del Rio was unhappy with having to put Batista over because Batista had not had a single match or appearance in 4 years. Del Rio tried to push the feud on Twitter, which upset Batista, and in turn upset the WWE. Also, Del Rio made his genuine feelings about losing to Batista public.

Del Rio has had a lot of altercations with non-wrestling staff within the company. The latest incident was alleged to have been with the man who runs the official WWE social media accounts (i.e. the ones with the “WWE” username, but NOT individual superstar ones). According to reports, Del Rio slapped the employee.

With Del Rio’s contract ending soon, and the company’s need to save money, this incident sealed Del Rio’s fate.

Since the incident, the WWE has released a statement on their official Twitter feed. It is assumed that the post was made by the man who was attacked, but this cannot be confirmed.

(Alberto Del Rio) is responsible for his own actions. If you’re angry at anyone, be angry at Alberto. There’s no excuse for a pro athlete not to conduct themselves in a professional manner.

Before you ask, yes, Randy Orton is still employed.

Well, I don't have nothing against Orton (he is my favourite heel) but if Del Rio was released because he slapped an employee also Orton has to be release.

In my opinion the unprofessional conduct is a stupid reason to release Alberto before his contract ends. So they don't have to pay him

So... Del Rio inherited the ability of his father, and the backstage political game of his uncle?

Holy crap that makes such beautiful sense.

And his "habit" of shooting/hurting his coworkers if things don't go his way from Mil Masacaras to.

I would bet Del Rio didn't want to work with him and considering Cara was fucking shit in WWE, this attack on RAW gave me luls. The new Sin Cara (Hunico) is awesome.

Del Rio sounds like trouble. Did he really give Dolph 3 concussions?

I don't know about giving Dolph 3, but he at least gave him 1, and Swagger one as well.
