<table><tr><td>Former WWE wrestlers defend The Rock

As noted earlier, there are a number of disgruntled wrestlers within the WWE locker room upset with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson stealing the spotlight at WrestleMania XXVIII since he is not a full-time performer. Former WWE talent Shane Helms (a/k/a The Hurricane) added his two cents on the matter via Twitter and said those people should quit complaining.

"FTR, anybody in the WWE locker room that is b---hing about The Rock's involvement in WrestleMania needs to stop being a douche! He's earned it!" the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion wrote Friday. "WrestleMania has always had celebrity involvement and if the the celebrity this year happens to actually be a GREAT pro wrestler, it's a win!!"

Fellow former WWE star Lance Storm, who earlier said Johnson's detractors should "shut up," added, "If the dude will draw more money, he deserves the spot. Absolutely. And he WILL draw more money, end of story."

Johnson caught wind of their statements Saturday morning. He wrote to them: "Incredible to me how many of the boys don't get the 'business' part of our business."</td><td>

Say what you will about Vince's often out-of-control ego or his lack of fresh creativity, the fact is he's a very shrewd businessman, - and if nothing else - bringing The Rock back is good business.</td></tr></table>

Where does Helms get off? Wasn't he just complaining last year about how the boys don't get paid enough, HBK is a piece of shit, and other things? Isn't that guy friends with the Hardys? Yeah, Helms can shut the fuck up and find a different way of trying to gain employment.

Lance Storm makes a good point, however, the wrestling audience has always been fickle, if they would have decided to start promoting this match a couple weeks ago instead of almost a year ago, maybe people would not have had the time to think about him not really being there.

They screwed themselves by promoting it so damn early.

Yep! They killed it before it even started! Sure Rock deserves some respect, but what about the younger talent craving to get a chance to shine and make there mark! The whole Cena vs Rock feud is cool, but Rock has not really given much to the WWE for the past 6-7 years and all this media attention annoys me. Vince is smart and knows Rock equals money, but at what cost?

Helms is just a dick!

Who is Shane Helms? And what exactly does he know about the Rock?

I vaguely remember, just before WrestleMania XIX, the Rock came back yet again with a heel gimmick. During this time, he scored major wins over Booker T (who was on the rise), Hulk Hogan and Steve Austin. He did job to Goldberg (which wasn't really nessesary in the end), but I do just about remember him putting over this guy in a weird green costume. The Rock would talk endlessly about the Scorpion King, but then this child wearing a table cloth and a pvc breat-plate would say something about the Rock's "ding-a-ling".

Oh wait, THAT WAS THE HURRICANE. The only time in Shane Helm's career where he actually looked like he was ready to leave the mid-card was when the Rock put him over. But then again, Hurricane hardly posed a threat to Rock's status, being the lowest rank babyface in the company back then. As long as people want to see the Rock's material from 2003, the WWE has to give Helms royalties. Now I understand why he is defending the Rock.

And as for Lance Storm, I hate to ever disagree with the guy. But he is wrong in this instance. The FACTS are that the Rock HAS NOT brought in money. He did increase revenue just before WrestleMania 27, but the ammount of money the WWE made since then has dropped! General attendence is also falling. And the very few times that the Rock actually did show up to the building, the arenas were only half-full (only the sides in front of the camera had anybody in the seats. And the only match that Rock has had in since 2004, at Survivor Series, BOMBED!

The Rock and John Cena have more available merchandise than any other person on the roster (including Triple H), but Zack Ryder and CM Punk are outselling them both. So the claim that the Rock still generates money is a myth.

Once April is over, we may not see the Rock until his movie career falters again. What is the point in investing so much time and money into a guy who will not be around? All you have left is a roster full of unmarketable guys because they didn't take the time to invest in them. Sure, they may make some money around WrestleMania 28. But there is still another year to come just after that.

I don't care if Lou Thesz puts him over, he's Shane Helms, and can never escape that fact.
