On this week's Raw, we saw 3 different superstars get struck in the head with weapons.
The WWE has a ruling in which all shots to an unprotected head with weapons must be pre-approved in advance. In this instance, all of the shots were pre-approved. Therefore no fines or punishments will be issued.
Randy Orton is said to be furious with Brad Maddox for striking him too hard with the microphone at the beginning of their match. However, this was how Maddox was told to do the microphone shot. The idea was so that the microphone would make as loud a noise as possible on impact. Orton even agreed to it prior to the match. Both men were told to use the top end of the microphone, as the wire mesh picks up the sound and reduces impact slightly. Maddox will not be facing any punishment because he did as he was instructed.
Orton can be seen intentionally striking Maddox in the head with the wrong end of the microphone. But as he only did this once, and Maddox claimed that he was fine, Orton will not be punished either.
Dolph Ziggler struck Damian Sandow with two drums and a guitar in their match. The original script did indeed call for Ziggler to strike Sandow with all 3 drums. But Ziggler made the call himself to miss out the tomtom. The impact that Sandow received was harder than Ziggler expected, and he did not want to hurt Sandow more than was necessary. However, he needed to use the bass drum as it was part of the finish.
