Before the movie :
When Jurassic Park came out, I wasn't even 1 year old but i grew up with the VHS and remember being amazed by it like everyone else, to this day i still love watching it whenever it's on TV.
Then came two sequels that I don't really like so when there were first rumors about a 4th movie and what might have been (dinosaurs/human hybrids) wether real or not I was like "WTF".
Several other rumors surfaced the internet and then we knew what it was really going to be about, still happening in the park and i didn't expect much about this movie and ended up surprised.
Movie Plot :
The events take place 22 years after the first movie.
Jurassic World is a theme park set on Isla Nublar, for years it attracted people but people are used to see dinosaurs and are less amazed by it which is why there needs something new, something bigger, something badder to attract people and investors.
InGen's geneticist Henry Wu mixed the DNA of several dinosaurs and some other animals to create a new creature, the Indominus Rex.
Owen Grady, who works on a side project training velociraptor, is asked to take a look at the Indominus but when he arrives at the enclosure the Indominus seems to have climbed it and it's thermal signal is nowhere to be found.
How to deal with such a predator running around the theme park with 20 000 visitors ?
My impressions :
+ Take a look at the park TA-DA TA-DAAA TA-TA-DA TA-DA TA-DAAA... well you get it, the fucking music and oh look ! it's my childhood running back at me !
+ I'm getting tired in real life to hear some people complaining about the inacurracy of what some dinosaurs look like, so hearing Wu basically saying "Yep, some of them looked different in real life but we had to ceomplete missing DNA with other animals' DNA so they look like this" it pleased me.
+ The idea of needing something new because dinosaurs are not exciting anymore to people in the movie.
+ The tamed raptors, which i thought wouldn't work, is really well done. They aren't some kind of dog, Owen is able to communicate with them but they're still ferocious beasts.
+ Some scenes reminding us of the first movie and references all around the park.
+ Huge climax. Climaxus Rex ! I felt like a kid watching this.
- The 3D. It's a fucking Jurassic PArk movie, i want to be amazed by a great 3D but it's useless, don't waste money for this.
- Maybe it was because of the 3D, I don't know, but the helicopter looked like a toy.
- The kids. I don't care if their parents we barely saw at the beginning are going to divorce. I don't care about the older one trying to seduce some chicks instead of enjoying the park, I want to see the park ! These things felt like an easy way to try to have people are about the jids but it didn't work.
- Cliché characters. Cool dude taming beasts, corporate lady too busy to care about her family, military dude seeing the opportunity to make a weapon out of the beasts...
- Not a movie flaw but something that scared me for the sequel, see the spoiler below
Wu was working on other projects for Hoskins who, as we now, wants yo militarize dinosaurs. Wu escapes with some secret embryos and i'm afraid we might see human/dino hybrids, but i hope i'm wrong
To conclude, i'm surprised i liked that movie that much as i expected it to not be good. At times it's dumb, it has flaws but had me amazed like a kid, cool action scenes and some tense moments, I guess you'll enjoy it too as long as you don't expect it to be the best movie possible.
