Right now, Vince McMahon is very keen to get John Cena established as a legend of the current era.
The current plan involves Cena beating Ryback in the ambulance match portion of the PayBack main event. This ofcourse will mean winning the match and retaining the title. Then the plan is to have Cena defend the title against Daniel Bryan at Money In The Bank.
The theory is that this will give Cena 4 epic wins in a short space of time. First of all, he became the fourth person to win 2 Royal Rumble matches by winning this year's event. He then closed WrestleMania by beating the Rock for the WWE Championship. Now he is expected to win the 3 Stages of Hell match. And with all of the people on the roster, it is believed that Daniel Bryan is most likely to give Cena a 'Match Of The Year' victory.
If the plan goes ahead, neither man will be turning heel. Even if the match goes well, the WWE does not expect to carry the feud on through SummerSlam. The SummerSlam main event will either feature Triple H, Brock Lesnar or Undertaker. Cena will be expected to take it easier during the late summer to recuperate from this current run.
