WWE Diva's champion A.J. Lee collapsed during a match tonight.

The incident happened during a live show in England. Lee fell from the apron and hit her head on the floor. Medics tended to her right away and helped her out of the building. She was working a match with Brie Bella at the time.

The WWE has released a statement claiming that Lee's collapse was caused by dehydration, but this is NOT the case. However, her condition may have been caused by something very simple. It is known that Lee had not been sleeping well during her time in the UK.

WWE medics will continue to check on her condition.

Just curious, how would anyone know that it is not due to dehydration?

Four reasons:

1) All performers who are scheduled to have a match that night have a minor check up. If AJ had any symptoms of dehydration, she would have been told to rest, and would not have been cleared for her match.

2) When the WWE officially announces that a superstar is suffering from dehydration, it usually means that they are covering up the real illness (which is usually excessive alcohol consumption or exhaustion) OR they cannot find what is really wrong. It is very rarely because of dehydration.

3) AJ's collapse was too sudden. Yes, she had other symptoms during the tour, but she would have had other noticeable difficulties leading prior to the fall.

4) A lot of wrestlers are ill right now. This is very common when the WWE does tours outside of USA and Canada. When the WWE leaves North America, the WWE crams in a lot of shows, publicity events and television appearances into a short space of time. And these things tend to be considerable distances apart. The result is that wrestlers spend a lot of time travelling without chances to rest or exercise properly. This leaves them more prone to injury than normal, and suffering the effects of exhaustion.

At this point, exhaustion is the most likely. This is the first major tour in which AJ has had quite so many matches and public appearances. In the past, she had normally been the ringside valet or an authority figure. But the WWE does not want the public to know the physical effects of being made to work under these conditions.
