At this moment, John Cena is set to be restored as the main star of the WWE throughout 2013.
The main event for WrestleMania 29 is still going to be the John Cena vs The Rock rematch. Whether or not this is for the WWE Championship, or any title, this will require Cena to be built up over the next 3 months. He may not win at TLC, but will be pushed hard leading into his match at WM.
And Cena's push will continue long after too. He is expected to have a several month run as either WWE Champion or World Champion this year.
While most full time stars work a mimimum of 240 shows a year, Cena had been working between 300 and 330 for the last 10 years. WWE officials have noticed that Cena's injuries and need for surgery is happening more often, and always require longer to heal. The same can be said for both Kane and Rey Mysterio. The aim is to keep John Cena the main star for as long as his body allows. When he finally reaches that point where his body can't take the pressure, they will reduce him to a part time schedule like Shawn Michaels had during the last decade.
There is also a plan to try and establish a new star to replace Cena. This will be similar to how McMahon tried to make Ultimate Warrior while Hulk Hogan was still the main star in the company.
In the short term, the relationship story line between AJ and Cena has been scrapped. This is because of the TMZ photos that emerged recently of Cena on a date with former diva Nikki Bella. Now the story line is the affair was just a fling, and AJ had become obsessed with Cena.
