At this point, Ryback's performance at WrestleMania 29 could determine how the rest of his WWE career turns out.
In recent weeks, Ryback has found himself main-eventing PPVs and competing for the WWE Championship. WWE officials are happy with how Ryback has handled the pressure put on him so far. But they feel that his shortcomings at smaller events is preventing him from becoming a major star. A huge part of Ryback's marketability is based on his physical strength, and he has been having trouble performing his finishing move on heavier opponents. Things are worse now that fans are now posting footage of Ryback failing to perform the move at house shows online.
The current plan is for him to face Big Show at WrestleMania. This match could possibly even be a title defense, with Big Show defending the World title, or Ryback defending the WWE Championship. That depends on who the title holders are after Elimination Chamber. But the feeling is that Ryback needs to overcome a WMD punch from Big Show, and then successfully lift him onto his shoulders and walk around the ring. If he can pull this off, he may establish himself as a major star for years to come. If he doesn't, his push will come to an end.
Being able to lift the Big Show is seen by WWE officials as the ultimate display of strength. Stars like Batista, Kurt Angle, John Cena and Brock Lesnar were all turned into major stars after successfully lifting and throwing Big Show. Ryback's finisher is seen as a fairly simple move with a complicated lift up. It will require a large amount of physical strength to use this technique to life Big Show, but it will also require considerable strength to walk around while carrying Big Show.
