Quote:

- We noted before that WWE has apparently agreed to partner with All Japan Pro Wrestling, a deal that John Laurinaitis helped put together. Early reports indicated that AJPW may be a new developmental territory for WWE.

New reports coming out of Japan suggest that WWE and AJPW may be doing a talent exchange, most likely for the proposed cruiserweight show on the WWE Network. This doesn't mean that the possibility of a developmental territory in Japan is ruled out but the talent exchange is more likely.

The newspaper Tokyo Sports featured an image of Laurinaitis with AJPW President Masayuki Uchida. Apparently Laurinaitis has met with AJPW officials one other time this year besides the reported meeting in August when WWE was on tour in Japan.

There are also rumblings of some kind of talent exchange where Big Show may be sent to make an appearance for AJPW in exchange for a WWE appearance by The Great Muta. That report is not confirmed but we hope to have more solid details on the WWE-AJPW partnership soon.[/quote]

You know, at first I was like: "Muta?! OMG". But then I breathed. I thought. And I realized: blah, just as WF says.

I mean, Muta appears on WWE... And so what? The E won't push him. "WWE Universe" (I hate this, seriously) won't even know who he is. And that's it... I wish that would mean interest for puro, but in the end it won't. We puro marks will be glad and all, but the rest won't care.

You know what? I actually feel sad for Muta/Mutou. This is a friggin' legend we're talking about - and the WWE audience (or "Universe", whatever) probably wouldn't even give him a pop if an appearance was to happen. Nowadays kids have no idea of wrestling history. Sad.

I'll say one more time: AJPW must get their priorities straight (as should NJPW) and make Japan care for puro again. We need a revival. Then they could think about overseas and spread their influence. Right now no one will care - neither the US or Japan. We're talking AJPW here, for wrestling's sake - the legendary AJPW. This is what Baba-sensei's legacy became? A friggin' development territory for WWE? This is a SHAME.
It's times like these that makes me wish I was a wrestler (I used to train a few years ago, but wrestling just won't work in Brazil). I would fly to Japan at the first chance and try to do something. Really, no one cares anymore?! Agh.

I love when people bitch about things that have yet to even happen.

With the internet and such, I've noticed many younger fans are actually quite well informed about the wrestling world, maybe even more so than any generation before.

I think Muta would be a great fit, and really bring some heat to the product.

I know WWE has blundered a lot of things through the years, but they also did a lot of things right. I'm gonna remain optimistic.

Dude, you're my bro but that's just dumb.

I see Slater jobbing to Muta, because.... y'know..... that's his gimmick.

I'd still love to see Muta vs Kane, which builds to Undertaker. I love that there are still realistic dream matches that can happen in my life. :)

edit: People need to realize wrestling is a business, not a democracy.

No, Funaki's not with the E anymore.

Then again, no reason why he should be with them... He could be a serious lightweight wrestler and got turned into a comedy act almost from the start (I ain't totally against comedy, but they never took him seriously, that's what I'm saying). Just like most asian wrestlers in the US. I CHOPPY CHOPPY YOUR PEE PEE! And people say I'm bitching as if the WWE hasn't history! I also find it funny when people call others' serious opinion "bitching". As if I could have none. I saw enough from the WWE to know what I'm saying, plus it's not like the puroresu situation in Japan is yet to happen - it's been on low spirits for years now.

Yes, the AJPW being a development territory for the E instead of living up to its history and legacy IS A SHAME.
