Mystery buyer revealed?

The identity of the person trying to buy TNA Wrestling has been revealed.

He was previously described as being someone who was well known by wrestling fans, not a wrestler himself, someone unexpected, intelligent and has money. He has been identified as Billy Corgan.

Corgan is best known as the front man for Smashing Pumpkins, but he also owns Resistance Pro Wrestling. He has put in a serious offer to buy out TNA Wrestling. It is not likely that he will 100% own the company, but he is looking for a majority share.

If the deal goes through, expect a lot of lesser known independent (particularly hardcore) wrestlers to start appearing in TNA. But the deal is far from finalised, and may not happen before the new year, if at all.

Anything is better than Dixie. He has experience to see more independent,younger talent in TNA would be a welcomed one.

RPW is great, it's were I first became a fan of "Lonesome" Jay Bradley, I just wish the TNA Bradley was the same as he was then.

If this does happen, maybe he will become the Jay Bradley of old.

Brett Buchanan of AlternativeNation.net reports that Smashing Pumpkins frontman and Resistance Pro Wrestling owner Billy Corgan is the potential TNA buyer. Buchanan wrote the following this weekend:

"I have heard from a second hand source who is close to a key figure in the rumored TNA Wrestling sales discussions who has verified that Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan is far along in his talks to purchase the company. This source went as far to say that he believes it is a “done deal” that Corgan will buy TNA, though the source didn’t know what percentage Corgan will be purchasing or the specifics of the deal. The source also says that Corgan has recently made a connection to somebody very wealthy, though it is not known if this party would have anything to do with the deal."

In an update, former ECW Original and WWE employee Lou D'Angeli, who is a longtime friend of Corgan's, wrote the following on Twitter last night:

"Is @billy set on buying @IMPACTWRESTLING??? I know he is pretty serious in at least partial, if not, majority ownership. #TNA"
