N64 Gameshark Help

I found one that i can buy for $10 and it works, now before i buy it.
I have a question.

1.Does it matter what number it is? Or do i have to have a certain version for me to use the hacks on here? The one i might buy is VER. 2.1

I think your best bet would be Gameshark Pro 3.3.
about 20$ will get you a good one on eBay.
