Well, dude you're clearly new to forums, so yeah you're unexperienced AND your english is poor, so if you do create a forum, please don't make an english speaking one. Not trying to be rude, but it is what it is, bro.

We tried opening a forum a year or so ago, and we had done some things, but we lacked activity, then we got bored with it, and then it just died.

We don't talk about it much these days. Or at all. In fact I forgot we had a forum anyway. :wall:
:toast: lol

Its too easy making a forum, running it is not an eating task. Atleast takes months for 40% activity. And its clear you're a growing person who'll not have much time towards internet, though. OSR is a good place, better be happy with the cool stuff we have here.

People be getting cray cray just to get a little authority.

I don't need authority to be a jerk, i only need it to moderate topics.

But it's mainly why i'm not staff. I'm just not one of those guys willing to blow smoke up your ass if you suck at what you're doing.

For all you non-native english speakers:
*"Blow smoke up your ass" is a south Georgia idiom meaning to "tell you a lie".
Variations include:
"tell a whopper"
"spew bullshit"
"talking shit"
"full of shit" - "SLX is full of shit" means "SLX is a liar".

If you have experience running a forum, then why did you ask for advice on how to run one?

And to be honest, I think it's better to open a new section, divide the board into two sections, or convert the board you already run, into the new board, than to open a new one. Getting people to sign up to a board with very few members or activity is very very tough. People won't log in if theres no one to talk to.
i never ask tell me how to run a forum i all want is the suggestion of specific feature and the mods of the boards i think u know whats that modding a forum i want to know what other features do they like in board and a good name suggestion thats all nothing more or nothing less get it !
and u cannot tell about a person with their post sometimes they like to enjoy and have a little fun that i done with my post i just made a little prank to u all

My first post, oh boy am I excited. I guess you are one of the admins? Quite obvious from my perspective and such.

I'm a game designer, web developer, and part time teacher, just to get the pinch of money I need, surviving month to month. I feel that everyone has to start somewhere, I was also told that I'm not capable of creating certain things, whether it be web wise, or be game wise, sure enough, being told that, I got to where I am today, I have worked for some popular indie companies, also minor companies, but for the indie category. The past 3 years I also moved a lot, traveling for work opportunities that's made available to me.

I had to say this, since this guy is told that its a stupid idea to jump into huge projects, but its actually that deep side swimming that teaches you how to stay above water, to make it more clear, its struggling and succeeding that makes us who we are, and shows us what we're capable of.

Good day fellow members. :hi

Johnny D you make a valid point, But telling him to stay out of shark infested waters is not the same as restraining him from diving in anyway.

Do you have any connections who might be able to get me work? I'm looking to build a game and need an opportunity man. Preferably a wrestling game, I accel at that. Check out my topics in the No Mercy Other Texture Mods section. I do 3d modeling and can build stadiums.

Good day fellow members. :hi
Good guess, I am indeed an admin. Even though it says I am an admin directly underneath my avatar pic, you persumed correctly.

But that is the only correct persumption you made. By picking out that line alone, you completely missed the point of my message. Diving into the deep end is foolish if you don't know what it is like to be in water. I didn't tell him not to try, I told him to learn first. He wants to be in charge of a succesful forum now, and he doesn't want to take the time to build it. You are not aware of his recent behaviour here. But it included rejecting all advice about starting, maintaining and growing a forum. If he is not interested in actually running a forum, then he should not be trying to run a forum.

Your example is not comparable. You took the time to learn and grow, and you accepted the risks and difficulties that come with that. NexGen wants to bypass that stage completely. Yes, everybody has to start somewhere, but it can't just be at the final home stretch.

Long Story Short: NexGen doesn't read long posts so he didn't listen to any advice so we are wasting our times, lol.
