[NEW] Xbox One to be region locked [NEW]

Microsoft has announced that their next generation console, Xbox One, will be region locked. This has been confirmed by a spokesperson of Microsoft.

Ever since the May 21st event where Microsoft unveiled their Xbox One, new details in regards to the next gen machine continue to emerge. The latest news is that the console will be region locked.

A spokesperson of Microsoft told Digital Trends:

“Similar to the movie and music industry, games must meet country-specific regulatory guidelines before they are cleared for sale.”

“We will continue to work with our partners to follow these guidelines with Xbox One.”

To those who find this surprising, keep in your mind that both Xbox and Xbox 360 were region-locked. However, Xbox 360 was not completely region locked. Publishers are given the opportunity to decide whether or not to region lock their titles.

When it comes to Sony’s machines, both PlayStation and PlayStation 2 were region locked but PlayStation 3 was region free. And we expect Sony to do the same with PlayStation 4.[/SPOILER]

Yep, PS4 for me then.

Same here also the Vita is Region Free as well.[/quote]The console is not but anything that is PSN related is region locked for the Vita,same goes for the Xbox Live.

So while you can buy a physical copy of a Vita game and play it in any Vita, any DLC or other add-on content will need to come from the home region of the game. Yea i knew that already, My psp was region free also i imported and bought many games off my accounts.
