Al Qaeda mastermind Osama bin Laden is dead and US President Barack Obama is to make a statement shortly, CNN reported Monday.

8:50 am: It is believed that bin Laden was killed in a mansion not far from Islamabad, Pakistan, with members of his family.

8:45 am: Obama will deliver the news to the nation in an address from the White House, almost 10 years after the Sept. 11 attacks that bin Laden orchestrated. Bin Laden was killed by U.S. assets in a mansion outside Islamabad, Pakistan, along with other members of his family, an official said.

8: 30 am: A US administration official said that Osama's body is in US custody.

Proof that he's dead -> On May 1, 2011, it was reported that bin Laden was killed during a U.S. military action. DNA from bin Laden's body, compared with DNA samples on record from his dead sister, confirmed bin Laden's identity. The body was recovered by the US military and is currently in its custody.
On May 1, 2011, President Obama addresses the nation affirming earlier confirmation by US officials that Osama bin Laden had been killed in a covert operation in Islamabad, Pakistan. Obama indicates this was done by a small team that acted on his orders on this date.

I agree with CBV on this.. I personal dont doubt he is dead but IMO this could be another plot by the US government to have a reason to continue fighting in Afganistan.. You think as soons as Bin Laden is dead, the US and UK governements will leave in peace?? No chance.

People are to easy to presume things that its all one way, when there is always another truth behind the story.

Indeed buddy. I have mixed feelings on this as I noted on NMZ. I was in the army for 3 years and saw certain things that I found "Strange" or "Wrong", and witnessing horrible things.. I try to have a open minded and its never one sided. Bin Laden is a villan and evil human being, but some individual US/UK soilders commited crimes aswell ie Rape, murdering, and abusing powers. I have heard so many different accounts I dont know what to believe at times, but one thing I know for sure everyone involved in this war is accountable for there actions.

I just want peace for all religions, nationalities and as a human race.

2,966 victims died in 9/11, 4452 Americans died in Iraq, 1,461 Americans in Afghanistan. Our retaliation killed more of our boys than Osama ever did. That bigger picture.... they keep missing it.

Right now I am in awe, most of the people in my state right now have no idea what they are celebrating. My friend Kara hit the nail on the head:

Americans are so easily appeased. ugh, I'm really disgusted right now. Chris has told me, a few times, to think of it as a victory for human rights. Now that is exactly correct. I am watching the news and seeing alot of Americans jumping around celebrating like the WAR! has ended. A comment from the wise master Yoda " Not victory, a defeat, it was...Master Obi-Wan. Begun, the Clone war has" Ok you get the point. It seems like this is over, no its not.. Its far from over and we should all be more concerned about whats going to happen now with terror threats and all this BS we could have in store for us..

I am more concerned now he is possibly dead, than when he was in hiding alive.

Please dont celebrate people, embrace it yes, but pray and hope for the best.

I'm locking this topic before it gets heated.

From now on let's keep politics OUT of OSR. Politics and religion are two things we shouldn't venture into, because there are sooooo many different views of both, and it will turn into arguments.

If we want to discuss either of those things, I'm sure forums exist specifically for that. Let's keep this place fun.
