Pain and Gain (or No Pain No Gain) MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS
Before the movie :
When i heard about the movie and saw the trailer, i had mixed feelings. Mark Wahlberg is a good actor in both comedies and serious movies but Dwayne Johnson is a disturbing actor, i fell like he is really trying is best and wants to succeed but i always feel like he is overacting (like van damme in a way), i didn't know Anthony Mackie, Tony Shalhoub is good in comedies and Ed Harris is a good actor but i didn't expect him a goofy comedy like this.
Let's be honest i didn't plan to watch this movie, but my social life is depressing, i haven't seen anybody except my family or work since 6 months so when a "friend" called and said "let's watch it, it might be fun" i had nothing better to do.
I didn't know it was inspired by a true story.
Movie Plot :
The Events take place in the mid 1990s
Daniel Lugo (Wahlberg) is a coach who wish to live the american dream who got hired at Sun Gym, there he trains a rich man named Victor Kershaw (Tony Shalhoub) and becomes friend with Adrian Doorbal (Anthony Mackie)who is a bodybuilder who suffers from impotence because of his use of steroids.
Inspired by Johnny Wu (Ken Jeong), a motivational speaker, Lugo considers himself "a doer" and plans to kidnap and torture Kershaw to extort him.
He forms the Sun Gym gang with Doorball and Paul Doyle (Dwayne Johnson) a former cocaine addict who just got release from jail. They kidnap Kershaw, torture him and finally get everything he owns, they decide it would not be safe to leave him alive and try to kill him, but failed.
Now rich, the three of them are enjoying their newly acquired wealth : Lugo takes Kershaw's home and blend in the neighborhood, Doorball maries his nurse and buys treatment for his erection problems, Paul abandon his religious beliefs and sobriety and goes back into his addiction.
In the meantime, Kershaw tryed to convince the police he was kidnapped and robbed but they don't trust him so he asks Ed Dubois III to help him.
Paul, in need of money, convince the rest of the gang to kidnap Frank Griga, a phone sex operator, but when trying to get is trust Lugo got pissed and accidentally kills Griga, Doorball kills Mrs Griga by accident too when injecting her a horse tranquilizer.
The gang must get rid of the bodies and evidences in order to escape the police.
My impressions :
+ Johnson is a great surprise in this movie, maybe the fact that his character his half crazy/half dumb helps but his facial expressions, his moves, his acting in general really fits the movie.
+ Funny ! I was afraid it would be stupid humor with the bigger guy being a cryababy, jokes on Doorball's dick everytime, and that kind of thing but in fact it is really enjoyable, the situations are plain funny, the guys are stupid as hell, it's 2 hours of laughing
- Wahlberg's character sounds like a child sometimes.
- Some jokes fall flat
To conclude, I wasn't expecting this movie to be good, but to my surprise i really enjoyed it, it's goofy but still have a good story. If you want a movie which is no brainer and have a good laugh, go ahead and watch Pain and Gain.

I like to write movie reviews, let me know if you find it interesting/useful or if i just sound like an ass who thinks he can judge other people work.
