As reported several times, the WWE are having trouble determining who to induct for the 'Stables' category in this year's Hall Of Fame.
The stables category is an award which will see at least three stars inducted together. It is different from the tag team award which can have 2 or 3 people (a tag team with or without their manager).
As highlighted in 2012, each member of the stable will be inducted. If any key members of the stable are already in the HOF, then they would have to be inducted again. This is a recurring reason why it has been so hard to find a suitable stable. This is a move that they want to avoid after doing this just last year.
Hart Foundation
The widows of Brian Pillman, British Bulldog and Owen Hart have all said "No". The main reason for inducting the stable is to get Owen Hart and British Bulldog into the Hall of Fame.
Melanie Pillman is actually open to the idea of Brian being inducted. She fears that if he was inducted as part of the Hart Foundation, the focus would be on the final year of his life. She would agree to Pillman being inducted if his entire career was taken into consideration. Diane Smith and her son Harry "David Hart" Smith have been victims of unprofessional behaviour by the the WWE. The WWE feels that they have legitimate claim to some of Bulldog's possessions, although they are legally the property of Diane. The WWE has manipulated Harry in order to get hold of some of his father's stuff, and have since refused to return some of it, and even damaged some. Diane is also bitter about the poor treatment Harry received when he was with the WWE. Martha Hart still blames the WWE for Owen's death, and refuses to let the WWE profit from his career in any way. She was further offended when the WWE offered to induct him into the HOF as a settlement for using footage of Owen for DVDs without permission.
Due to Jim Neidhart's recent troubles with the law, they do not want to induct him on his own. And they do not feel that his tag team with Bret Hart was that major. Either way, inducting the Hart Foundation as a tag team or a stable would mean having induct Bret Hart for a second time.
nWo
There has been some internal confusion about who this concerns. It will mean inducting Kevin Nash, Hollywood Hogan and Scott Hall. But the HOF Committee repeatedly argue that there have been other key members of the nWo that should also go in too. But there is also a feeling that many of those suggestions should go in individually another year. The WWE recognises 28 official members of the nWo, excluding WWE and Japan only members.
Nash has refused to be inducted, but has has suggested on numerous occasions that he would change his mind. Internal feeling is that he is trying to make sure that Scott Hall gets included too, as he feels that Hall would not be inducted at all any other way.
The WWE are not keen to give Hogan a second place in the HOF. The WWE were frustrated with the deal that they had to make with TNA Wrestling last year because Ric Flair was under contract with them. Hogan has in the past discredited the Hall Of Fame on multiple occasions, and the feeling is that giving Hogan a second HOF place would damage the honour of the prize.
The Kliq
This is the group of Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash and Shawn Waltman.
The problem with this is that the Kliq were not actually a stable. They were a group of friends who had a lot of pull with WWE owner Vince McMahon. Michaels is uneasy about being inducted into the HOF again, especially as his last induction was quite recent. On the night that Kevin Nash and Scott Hall left the WWE, Shawn Michaels and Triple H went into the ring and celebrated with them. This was the first time that wrestling fans saw heels and babyfaces interacting as friends. Ever since then, the friendships between the group has been featured heavily on WWE, WCW and TNA programming. In fact, it can be argued that each member of the group has used their friendships in order to keep their careers alive.
Michaels is also uneasy about being inducted for the second time, because his first induction was so recent. There is also concern that inducting them as a group would discredit their individual careers.
D-Generation X
This is Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Road Dogg, Billy Gunn and Shawn Waltman.
The original stable was Michaels, Triple H, Chyna and Rick Rude. Chyna will not be inducted because to the negative issues that remain between her and Triple H. Triple H was engaged to Chyna when he began dating Stephanie McMahon. Chyna was later released from the WWE contract because of her reaction to the news. Since then, Chyna has moved into the adult film industry. Rick Rude will not be inducted as part of the group because he deserves to be inducted on his own.
The second incarnation also featured Triple H, Chyna, Billy Gunn, Road Dogg and Sean Waltman. It is felt that Gunn, Dogg and Waltman have all worked hard enough to deserve a place in the HOF, but their lack of main event status in their careers ruin their legacy.
In addition to Chyna and Rude, other members Tori, Boogeyman, Great Khali and Hornswoggle will not be inducted too.
The Fabulous Freebirds
There is some dispute about who this should involve. The Freebirds are famous for having a three-person tag team, so it stands to reason that 3 members should be inducted, but no more. Michael Hayes' place would be guaranteed as he is the only member to be in every incarnation of the the Freebirds. Terry Gordy and Jimmy Garvin would likely be the other two, even though they served little time in the stable together.
Demolition
This idea is discussed and ditched every year. The internal feeling was that Bryan Adams, who portrayed Crush, should not be allowed in. But in recent months, the WWE has changed their minds and now think that he deserves to be inducted based on his solo career alone. But part of the problem is that Barry Darsow (Smash) would have to be in because he competed in most of Demolition's matches. Darsow also portrayed Repo Man. There is no possible way to induct Smash without inducting Repo Man too.
