So, a while back, I made a No Mercy mod called "Project Outsider", I released it at .9, and took a break from N64 modding for a while.  Recently, I have taken a look at all the advanced made in the modding community, and wanted to try my hand at all the things I could improve.  A huge thanks to AmitDaybeen for his youtube channel of mod matches, and posting several playthrough of mine.  Anyways, I started reading these forums again, and I really want to do more with this project, possibly by next year.  My main goal, if possible, is to see what I can code into the rom instead of using an emulator.  I have been reading about Freem's VPW studio, but I don't want to get too ahead of myself or take anything for granted.

- ADDITIONAL ROSTER SPOTS TO FIX CAW SLOTS
I've been taking a look at SK Styles OpenOffice tool to add roster spots in the game.  If possible, I would like to try to open 18 spots so I could move the wrestlers on the CAW spaces to those free spots, leaving the CAW spots blank if anyone wanted to use them as they were originally intended.

- ADDITIONAL ROSTER SPOTS FOR "ECHO FIGHTERS" AND NEW CHARACTERS
If I can get the previous task completed, then it should be simple to split some characters into two similar characters with slightly different movesets, logic, and taunts (Zodiac/Brutus Beefcake, Yeti/Reese, Earthquake/Shark/Golga, Hulk Hogan/Hollywood Hogan etc.).  I would also take advantage of these spots to create characters I wanted to make before, but was limited by the character slot limit.

- FIX HOGAN'S LEGDROP
I've used HaloOverhead's legdrop code in the game, but for some reason it doesn't seem to work as well as in the original video, landing in the wrong position.  I may fix this, or just change the finisher altogether.

Well, taking a look at Freem's VPW2 mod, I have a better idea on what I can accomplish with the AKI Studio when it comes out.  So here is an updated plan with prep work.

The Roster
- It looks like the additional roster spots are in, although I will limit myself to how many character portriats are available.  Depending on how the texture hacking for masks turns out, the statuses of Akuma, King, Giant Tiger, and Batman are up in the air at this moment.

Outfits and Textures
- Seeing Freem's VPW2 in action is giving me a better idea of what I can do with outfit editing.  I will be more limited in what I can make.  However, they should hopefully be easier to port since I kept to the limits of the original textures for the most part.  I will probably have more characters with default textures or patterns I can share (like the same 3 star tights for Macho Man and Hollywood Blondes).  There will be less personalized items, but if Firepro editing has taught me anything, then this should be no problem at all .  Also even though there is a limit on open spaces for outfit textures, palette swapping should ease the burden on this.

Movelists
- Pretty much copy and paste.  I didn't use too many hacked moves in the game, and the ones I did use can just be altered back.  The only 3 major ones are replacing the hiptoss to head submission to a bodyslam and head submission, Hulk Hogan's legdrop, and fixing the slam to leg submission to that the special submission works.

Arenas
- I didn't realize until recently that there are two sets of graphics for the background.  One for the arena, and a bigger set for the start of the entrance.  The entrance graphics were harder to edit since most of them were polygon shapes.  Most of them, I just replaced the graphics used for transparent.  It does clash with full entrances and in story mode, but not as bad as if I left them alone.

Menu
- I'll work on it later, but this won't be a huge focus.

Music
- Easy to add in.  I just want to add and replace some more and fix the volume for most of them.

I just realized that since I didn't use any codes for the arenas, I can upload them for basic use. These are Rice textures, that go in the high res texture folder for No Mercy, so just put them in and you have new arenas! The intros to the arenas aren't too good, but I changed enough to differentiate them from what they were before.

So while waiting for Freem's No Mercy tool, I decided to see if I could get an auto installer for the mod pack version I have now.  Thankfully, KWG offered to help me out and I should have a music and arena update available for download soon.  Editing the music turned out to be a lot easier than I thought and I was able to replace all the songs.  If you want to see what I have done here is the patch for the No Mercy 1.1 rom.  It works when using Delta Patcher, but I haven't tried any other patch programs.  Also remember to back tp the original rom as well.
