A few months ago a new version of the emulator was released.
I've been using it for some time and I had some problems at first, but after changing a few options everything seems to work fine.

You can find it here:
http://www.pj64-emu.com/downloads/project64/binaries/

Install in any new folder (you don't have to uninstall the previous version).
To make it work, you have to set a few things.
Copy the Rice Plugin files from the old emulator:
- BGMlib.dll (main folder)
- RiceVideo.dll (plugin)
- RiceVideoDbg.dll (plugin)
into the new emulator folder (the first one in the main folder and the other ones in plugin\GFX

In plugin\GFX you can create the "hires_texture" folder.

The cheat file goes into \config in this version.

If you open the emulator and try to set your plugins, you should be able to select RiceVideo now. The plugin settings should be already ok (make sure that the Frame Buffer is set to None).

Also, make sure the other options are set like this:
http://img837.imageshack.us/img837/3786/6myr.png

If you have problems with the controller (for example with the multiple specials code) try using a different plugin such as Jabo's DirectInput 1.6).

You will notice that the cheat window is a bit different, the code you're editing doesn't pop up but you extend the window to the right. There is no code limit now, so you can have more than 500 (I'm not sure if the limit is infinite or just higher, but you don't have to worry about it).

I tested this on No Mercy mostly, but I've just had a quick match in VPW2 and it works there too.

Meh.

The memory editor is just awful for it. If it had Nemu64's style, I would use it. :S

I posted at NMZ (But hardly anyone goes there, I'll just make a quick summary).

- The default plug-in can use textures, but you have to re-dump everything as they have different file names. But that actually may have a better advantage for AKI mods.

- Be careful with the download, theres some toolbar in it and I can't even open the file with my firewall on. Heres a download with just the emulator:

- If you want to use mods from 1.6, just copy your plug-in over with its settings. If you want to use the default plug-in, use these:

- The only problem using the default plug-in is that WCW nWo Revenge, WCW nWo World Tour and Virtual Pro Wrestling 64 have black screens. Not had any other problems.

When do these games have black screens? I've just tried Revenge and VPW64 and they work here.
Also, some of the settings you used in the Recompiler/Plugin window (like the TLB mapping) don't make the game work if you're using move hacks (the game freezes when you exit a match) and some other codes in NM. With the ones in the first posts everything works.

On loadup, that's with the defualt plug-in though. Not the 1.6.

Are you sure with hacked moves? been playing games just fine with hacked moves by quitting and winning the match.

Edit: Just tested it with those settings (Use TLB off, TLB mapping etc.) and its running the exact same. If you have had problems with what I used, I'll use those ones.

The TLB settings affect NM, I guess it depends on the move hacks you use. About the other games, I didn't see any problems so I guess it's the plugin the reason there.

Just downloaded it. Bomber is right I really thought if they ever made a new PJ64 t would have a better memory editor especially considering that almost every older version comes already with a couple hacked moves.

Where would I place the hires textures if I wanted to use the default plugin?

It's "textures" or "textures_load"
