Thinking its time we look to revise the rules and involve the OSR community in this.

A few new changes spring to mind.

BUMPING - Sure, its annoying when you see someone bump a 1-2 year old topic, but is it a relevant post? Well, if it is relating to the topic and there is no where else to ask, why not? I think sometimes new members feel safer to post in the specific topic, rather than the help section or some random place, so why dont we be a bit more open minded about that.

FREE TO USE, BUT WITH PERMISSION - I myself have no problem with someone using my textures hacks as long as it helps them improve and not just used to make a half assed mod. I understand however that some editors simply do not want there work to be edited, and that should be respected. I think a more clearer rule on this needs to be added, so no one makes a error and gets punishment for it.

LESS HATE ON NEWBIES - Yes, sometimes we get newbies asking the most stupidiest questions, but where we all there before and sure, some of us pick up thing quicker than others, but it seems members like to take the "Admin" role and flame a new member and make them look stupid. I think a rule where if a new topic/post has been made by a new joiner and its seriously retarded, then leave the admins to give the 3rd degree and not the member. If its something that seems dodgy IE stolen texture, joke account, then "REPORT" the member to the OSR staff and we can deal with it.

Just a few that string to mind and am looking for more ideas from you guys.

Seriously want to make things more friendly/fair at OSR.

"LESS HATE ON NEWBIES" - I think the most hate goes against Newbies who didn't do anything and have the first or second or so post starting with "give me" - oh yes, true, they also missed the "please". It's not against people asking stupid questions, it's all about people wanting to have everything without "paying" for it. When I came to here I threw in some mods and discovered that they aren't that bad. So I went on and payed and payed and now it was the first time I requested something from Skatsim. Less Hate on Newbies is possible if they accept the order of requests: First give us something then you get something. To stop missunderstandings: I don't mean they need to give us mods first, but I want to see at least 20 posts in other topics. For me it's enough if they are able to write in full sentences and can produce communications in the board without just "great" and so on...

Sorry to disagree with you on the bumping thing, but i have to. there is a help section for a reason. Do you know how many times i have delt with people who bump months old or even sometimes a year old topic to ask some stupid question & that pushes current topics down & half the time they bump a topic of someone who had already bumped the same topic.

For instance someone posting in a topic of a guy that hasn't been on in months to say "Hey can you reup this?" Then more new people come right behind the guy who bumped the topic to begin with asking the same damn thing, when common sense would tell you check when the guy was last on (in Their profile page) if it was awhile ago. you ain't getting a reup.

<big>Sorry Bout Your Damn Luck.</big>
Agree with Connor. I also have a Suggestion regarding This "Bumping" Problem:

An OSR Admin should make an "Official Re-Upload" Pinned Topic. In that Thread, People can ask for Re-Upload a Mods, But in That Post, They must Put a Link to The Mods Thread (So that People don't Bumping An Old Topic). Here's The Example:

<blockquote class='quote\\_blockquote'><dl><dt>Quote:</dt><dd> </dd></dl><div>Can anyone Re-Upload The Mods on This Topic, Please?

Here's The Topic Link: http://s4.zetaboards.com/Old_Skool_Reunion?topic=9378595/1/#new
That way, No one is Bumping An Old Topic. I hope This Suggestion can Help OSR to be More Better Than Ever.

I'm all for the easing up of the bump rule. Why not for a trial period of a couple of months at least?

I think it is better to post the re-up in the topic that the original thing was posted.

I also think the alternative of having a re-up thread is problematic cause where should you put it? One in each forum? If you don't have it directly found from each page I'm sure you'll still get the "dumb" posts you are talking about.

About "active topics" getting bumped down, if they are active they will pass the other topic again on next post, won't they? So what's the deal? Someone had a reason for the "bumped topic" to be active again.

Also, if there is a mod or something that has been asked for re-up for a very long time and it is clear that there will never be a re-up, there is a "lock topic" function.

Anyway, that's my opinion, feel free to disagree.

Why not just get rid of all of them, keep rule #3 and just use the zetaboards terms of use?

Maaaybe a note on necro-bumping, but like Armando said, if it is a relevant post it should be excused.

If I had more time I would show a few in the No mercy section, the people bumping were instantly flamed by non-staff, though. Probably turned away a lot of potential contributing members.

Ley me rephrase that , i've never seen it in the SvR section, i never go into the NM section. For the simple reason, i don't think i have any business in there , as i know next to nothing about the game & wouldn't feel right telling people what to do in there. I have enough trouble running the SvR section. lol
