Quote:

We noted on Wednesday that AJ Styles had not signed a new deal with TNA yet and that they were still negotiating with money appearing to be the biggest issue.

Styles was backstage at Tuesday night's Impact Wrestling tapings and returned on Wednesday night at the tapings for the January 2nd episode and a match was made against Magnus, winner of the tournament finals, to crown an Undisputed TNA World Heavyweight Champion.

That match took place at Thursday night's tapings and will air on January 9th. The match had a No DQ stipulation added to it and saw interference from a handful of stars, including Dixie Carter. The end saw Magnus get the win to become the Undisputed TNA World Heavyweight Champion. After the match, Styles cut what was described as a somber promo and thanked the fans for letting him wrestle for them. He said Dixie could forget about him but he won't ever forget about the TNA fans. He said this was real life and talked about his time in TNA. Styles said goodbye before greeting fans at ringside on his way out.

There is still no confirmation that a new deal was signed since Tuesday but if there wasn't, PWInsider reports that Thursday night's tapings, which will air January 9th, could be Styles' last appearance for the company. The latest word was that both sides were still very far apart on money and that it would come down to the wire. Styles' contract expires before the end of the year. [/quote]

Another Big Star

There are also reports that after the Tournament final against Magnus,Jeff Hardy left TNA.

Why are they pushing Magnus to the moon? Christopher Daniels and James Storm both deserve a long and worthy reign before him.

He may have the TNA Championship and ended Styles' and Hardy's careers, but Magnus will NEVER have a British fan base, no matter what Dixie says.

No-one knows yet. His current contract ends on January 4th. Just like Styles, TNA asked both men to take a pay cut. But the difference is that Hardy asked for a contract more like the ones that Ric Flair and Rob Van Dam had when they were in the company.

In fairness to Hardy he is much more deserving of that type of contract to Flair/RVD. Correct me if I am wrong, but is he not the highest merchandising seller in TNA? I know he has had a troubled past, but he has changed his ways and is in good shape for a broken down 35 year old. I am not saying Styles is not deserving of that type of contract either though. I think Dixie is being petty, and no matter how much she is in awe of Magnus, as a fellow Brit, I am not a fan and he really does not carry himself as a WHC.

I was getting ready to explain why Hardy does not deserve such a deal, but you hit me with a good point. No-one has been moving merchandise like him. While his attitude sucks and most of his matches are over-rated, he is selling tickets. It's not often someone can be a big draw by staying on the undercard.

I really want OSR fans to know how rubbish Magnus is. I have been looking for his promo from the first episode of the Gladiators remake.

He was the leader of the Gladiator team. After losing his signature round (twice) on the first episode, he cut a pro wrestling style promo on the crowd about how he cannot be defeated. He then went on to be the most defeated Gladiator on the show. He got the second lowest win rate, only because the woman with the lowest was in a car accident mid-series. Then he only did better in the second series because all of the games were rigged in his favour, with the Referee not being allowed to call him on rule-breaking. The only good thing about the show was seeing Mason Ryan break character when a contender cheated!

This is really sad news for me (and for other people of course). I attended to AAA's show where AJ defended the title against Mesías a few days ago, i really ejoyed his performance and i totally thought that he was going to be in TNA for a little bit more. I started to watch TNA back in 2005 and the main reason was Styles, really don't know how is gonna be TNA without the Phenomenal One.
