Ofcourse it was buggy. All SvR games on all consoles were buggy.

And yes it was arcadey. It was MEANT to be arcade style.

Even today, it still has one of the best rosters of any WWE game. Only No Mercy challenges it in that stake. It has very many moves that people long for in the newest games in the series.

I will admit that their have been many advancements in the series. But it is up their with No Mercy and 2006 as being one of the very best wrestling games ever.

I can always depend on you Rag to give me a good discussion bro.

As far as WWE games go, my favorite one is NONE of the smackdown games or No Mercy.

This is mine.

For nostalgia reasons, i always remember HCTP as the best wwe game in PS2. It was the first game i ever played in PS2, and i played with friends. The roster is great (but Showdown Legend's roster is the best ever). The gameplay is great in my memory, but not so great when i played again some months ago :)

But i am almost sure HCTP is better than SVR2010, that we have available for modding...

You can kill me, guys, but HCTP and Svr 2006 not the best games on PS2 for me. I love SYM :)

:star wars: Where I come from, that's fighting talk. And I come from the same place that Finlay does, and we love to fight!

DOR2 was a very good game. But the ability to give each character up to 9 finishers was a bit of a let down for me. The create-a-wrestler was superb, but toned down from WM19.

My only criticism is the story mode. You spend two years fighting to regain the World Title, just to surrender it willingly to Triple H, the guy who stole it from you in the first place! And then the credits is an overly long tribute to Stacy Keibler, who blatantly ignores your CAW when he needs her the most.

DOR 1 and 2 ruled IMO. I loved the Gamecube WWE games apart from WM18 which sucked.

Now HCTP was a very good game for its era, but it was not flawless. It had many bugs that became customary with the WWE franchise on PS2 and HD consoles, but the roster was epic! Gameplay wise it did have similarities to No Mercy, but that was mimimal!

For me! KOC, ASPW, VPW2, No Mercy own the WWE franchise. No Mercy is 12 years old now and yet the game has a strong fanbase and with the brilliance of WldFb who has found amazing new values and ways of hacking, that game will never die!!

Its funny, for a game like NM which has basic graphical appearances compated to the WWE games, it still can stand alone in its own right!

HCTP easily has the best last man standing matches.

SYM is the best back stage brawls and multiplayer mayhem.

Wait, screw that. Smackdown 2 had the best backstage brawls. There. I said it.

Was looking into the 2006 game a little and the lack of plistps2.arc file.

There is not a chance that the game just simply reads the actual headers of the files when there is no ARC-index file to use?

So that if I actually changed the header of the PAC file that were being imported to aswell, the import would work also on the 2006 game? Has anyone tried updating the CH.PAC file header manually by hex editing?

You find the header at 0x800.

Looking at CH.PAC, starting at 0x810 seems to be character header info.
01 01 C0 04 02 01 A9 06 04 01 70 07 11 01 71 04 12 01 EA 05
That's all header data for character 01 - in bold the different attire models (attire id, wrestler id in that order).
