After playing a number of MOD's for No Mercy and VPW2 I decided to make my own, but Iv run into a problem, I CAN'T

I have read tutorial after tutorial and watched a number of videos on how to edit textures for No Mercy on Project64 but I can't seem to get it working.

I can download a MOD, install it and play it flawlessly. But when it comes to making my own I can't get it to work. I have gotten as far as dumping the textures and that's it.

I have the correct plugins because I can play any MOD out there.

So this is what I do;

1. Open up PJ64; Open No Mercy;

2. Go to SM, Edit Steve Blackman; Save state;

3. Go to Graphics Options and click on "Dump Textures"

4. Load state;

Now I go into my texture_dump folder and go into ci_by_png; There are my textures, so far so good;

5. Now I create the folder hires_texture and inside that I create with the exact name the WWF No Mercy folder; and place my texture in there;

6. I open up the image in Microsoft Paint and do a little editing to see if it works

7. I save the file (not save-as)

8. I go to graphics options and click on Load all Hi-Res Textures and I load the ROM

9. The usual black screen pops up and loads my texture

Everything is good up until this point but when I start the game, blackman still has the same face and my texture doesn't show up! ugh..

In the youtube videos they were doing the exact same thing and it was working for them perfectly, am I missing something here?

someone made a comment on youtube that the method is different for Windows 7 and that is the operating system I am using.

My System Configurations;

Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

This isn't about YOUR PC CONFIG (Sorry for the caps,it's just to highlight :) )
This is about YOUR EMULATOR GRAPHIC PLUGIN (Rice or Mudlord plugin)

If you send some prints of your Graphic plugin configuration so we can help you.

Also try any other Image Editor aside from paint,because modding and paint hate each other(mostly Windows 7 Paint).

Keep in mind that I can play any MOD with these settings. The MOD's i'm currently playing are:

Virtual Pro MMA
WWF inVasion
WWE 13 Featuring Legends
WWF Attitude

I have no problem installing these MOD's and playing them flawlessly. I just can't seem to create my own..

Your configuration is fine, but let me see screencaps of your folders, and the texture thumbnails in the file. ;)

I've had this happen before, and usually, one route (if all else fails) is to take the folder of a save/mod that loads textures correctly, and then delete all the textures and flv. file to start fresh. And stuff.

Personally, this is a new problem I'm hearing about, I haven't had this happen to me, yet.

If you use photoshop, which you should, make sure that there's one layer when you save it and that layer is unlocked, i.e, there's no pad lock beside it, and then save it as PNG and in the options, make sure to select 'Interlaced' and then it'll work for ya.

Oh sweet! CBV Upgraded my account to mid carder and now I can see everything!! WOOO I can actually thank the people on this thread because it has truly helped!

Thanks for the help you guys! I have figured out how to do my own textures as of right now I have to copy a folder with a MOD that already works, delete all the files in that folder and create my own using Photoshop and saving Interlaced and unlocking the layer!

Thanks to all of you that helped! I am having a much better day today :D man yesterday was rough.. couldn't get my textures to show up, couldn't find my topic, almost got banned..

I will be making my first few MODs in the coming weeks; First up the Von Erich's
