The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS
Before the movie :
I've always been completely nuts about the LOTR movies, watching the VHS of the 1st movie about 40 times (i'm feeling old when i talk about VHS), everything is charming in these movies, the environments, the music, the battles, etc... So, i had to go watch ths one. Note that i won't make any comparisons with the books as i've never read them.
Movie Plot :
The movie follows the storyling began in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey . To sum up, years ago the Dragon Smaug drove the dwarves, leaded by their king Thror, out of their mountain. Thorin, grandson of Thror is convinced by Gandalf to get back the throne he deserves, to be recognized as King he needs the Arkenstone (a gem) which his in the mountain, guarded by Smaug along with many treasures. In order to get it back a company of 13 dwarves, accompanied by Gandalf will need Bilbo to steal it from the dragon. Many adventures will happen along their way.
My impressions :
+ The environments (wonderful).
+ The musics (epic).
+ The first scene sums up the plot and it's an actual movie scene instead of a narration like we had in the fellowship of the ring.
+ More action than in the first Hobbit.
+ The dwarves are fierce and a bit goofy, even sometimes in fight.
+ The dragon, looks nice, is clever, has a deep threatening voice.
+ Evangeline Lilly (wonderful).
- Something bugged me in Orlando Bloom's face.
- The romance between a dwarf and an elve (not sure about the word, i mean a female elf) as you know now i'm not keen on love stories.
To conclude, this second movie has more action than the first, if you like the LOTR movies of course you'll like this one, if you've never seen any of these (which seems unlikely) your eyes will be amazed by the environments and visual effects, your ears will be amazed by the epic musics, that's a great entertainment.
