Since 1939, Batman has been a pop culture icon. Just like Superman and Spider-Man, he made his first appearance in another comic (Detective Comics #27). But he proved to be so popular that he started his own franchise. While he is not the official mascot of DC Comics, he is easily their most recognisable figure.
A young Bruce Wayne was orphaned when his parents were killed during a mugging. Even though he inherited his father's millions, mansion and business empire, Bruce grew up to become bitter. His thirst for justice is driven by his need to avenge his grief. By day, he is a philanthropist billionaire who contributes much of his vast fortune to scientific research and humanitarian aid. But at night, the Batman strikes fear into the hearts of those that aim to cause harm in his native Gotham City.
Batman has been the subject of several lines of comic books, movies and television shows. As well as a line of merchandise, ranging from action figures to aftershave.
This thread is for the appreciation of all things Batman. I don't care if it is comic book, animated series, Adam West, Golden Age, Tim Burton, Azreal, Christopher Nolan or even George Clooney. All things related to the caped crusader are welcome here.
