THQ filed for bankruptcy back in December, with the filing revealing the titles of several new work in progress games. Those games, and games already announced and known, will now be offered up piecemeal (which means on a game by game basis) in an auction, set to run on the 22nd of January.

THQ originally planned to use Debtor In Possession funding, an idea knocked back by Judge Mary Walrath last week. Creditors requested three more weeks, with the idea that potential buyers could pick and choose individual assets.

In contrast, Clearlake’s bulk sale plans were rejected. Clearlake are currently funding THQ’s operations, with a figure of $60 million (with the intention to acquire its business) touted a while back. THQ’s creditors objected to the buyout, and the hearing was pushed back.

The latest update is that parties have come to some kind of agreement, with the sale to start in just over two weeks. EA and Warner are both said to be interested in THQ’s games – although it’s not clear which games each publisher might be wanting to pick up at the auction yet – with Clearlake also likely to still be in the game.

Ubisoft too are also in the game, according to reports. Saints Row is clearly the key franchise THQ currently own.[/quote]

Just when the WWE game was getting somewhere. If EA get the WWE licence I dread to think of the changes made.

Dear god. I rather it stayed with THQ. However, I personally think EA will nab the license and screw us with a dodgy control system. I would like to hope whoever gets the license actually does not wait 5 years to actually improve the game play or mechanics and learns from the past lessons of THQ. Still THQ have given us some awesome WWE games (HCTP, SYM, WWE13, 2006). It was not all that bad really.

Bro. The ASPW series is easily one of my favorite wrestling platforms. I would totally love to see that happen.

Also, fuck Sony. If they buy the WWE video game franchise, what will happen to the XBox gamers? I am assuming it would be Sony exclusive? Hope to god that does not happen.

Out of the 12 freakin' years they owned the license, they put out 4 good games, that's it. How good could they have been?

WWF No Mercy and WWE 12.

6 good games in 12 years.
C'mon lets face it: WWE 13 may be better but WWE 12 was a good game.

6 good games in 12, with WWE'12 FULL of bugs, I can't call it great, but it was good, I guess. Regardless, they should've put out 8-10 games that were actually worth playing and forking out the 60 for..

Yeah, and look at WWE13. The game was full of funny bugs. Especially weapons. I lost track at the amount of times my chair would teleport from and suddenly zooming up in the air and ending up out of the ring.

THQ have had a decent run with the franchise and maybe its time to see if another company can do something different and fresh.
