If you have watched or read any interview with a TNA roster member in the last year, they were all told to say the exact same thing. They all claim that Magnus is about to become their next breakout World Champion. In a bid to prove the point, Douglas Williams was released from his contract today.
Williams famously teamed with Magnus in both British Invasion and World Elite. As the only experienced veteran in World Elite, Williams would shine on the roster, winning multiple titles in a short period. But Williams has since found himself being phased out due to Dixie'scrush high hopes on Magnus.
Even though Williams has spent much of the last year as an off-screen trainer at OVW, he is still considered by fans to be the company's biggest European star. Williams was released in the hopes that people will start supporting Magnus by default.
Williams was asked my many fans on Twitter if he had been released after his profile was removed from the roster page on the TNA website. Williams confirmed it was true, indicating that he was hopeful about the future. His only regret was that the announcement came in the same week that MMA fighter Quentin 'Rampage' Jackson had signed a contract with the company. One of Jackson's first requirements would have meant going to OVW for training. But now that Williams is no longer working with the company, Williams never even got to meet his hero.
