As we have been reporting over the last 3 months, a mystery buyer had been trying to purchase a controlling share in TNA. We can now confirm that the negotiations are over, and no sale has been agreed.

Major figures in TNA, including company President Dixie Carter-Salinas openly and publicly denied their interest in selling the company. All the while, they were entertaining bids from outside investors. Carter's parents, who are by far the biggest investors in TNA Wrestling, are keen to sell their shares in order to recoup their losses as much as possible. Co-founder Jerry Jarrett has admitted that Dixie's father phoned him frequently, begging him to find ways to reduce the company's financial losses.

The Wrestling Observer claimed that the mystery buyer was country singer Tobey Keith. However, it should be pointed out that the Wrestling Observer has suggested several names for the mystery buyer who were not even interested in the company. They even suggested that WWE Superstar Kane was the potential buyer at one point. Keith has appeared on 2 different episodes of WWE Raw, his song 'As Good As I Once Was' is quoted often by older wrestlers and he is friends with Jeff Jarrett. These are all of his connections to wrestling. If Keith really was the buyer, he certainly had the money, but he would need TNA to start turning a profit within 2 years. Most of Keith's income comes from live performances, which would be reduced if he was in charge of TNA. It is speculated that Jarrett would have been given more creative control, however, talent would still be expected to take massive pay cuts.

The reasons for Jeff Jarrett's departure will never be revealed as Jarrett signed a non-disclosure contract. However, this sale is thought to have nothing to do with his reasons for leaving.
