We have been following the story of Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards as they try out for the WWE. Up until now, all signs were looking good for the pair. After some confusion, Edwards will be finishing up with Ring Of Honor this month, however, Richards will not.
Both Richards and Edwards were booked for shows in ROH before the WWE offered them a second chance. Edwards initially pulled out the events at WWE’s request, but the Conneticut-based company have since granted him permission to work the agreed dates. Richards cancelled his appearances, but the decision has nothing to do with the WWE.
It seems that there is a lot of heat on Richards within ROH right now. He was recently interviewed in a British wrestling magazine. At one point, he commented that ROH’s championship titles did not mean as much as they used to. This upset a lot of the ROH staff and roster. He later apologised in front of the locker room, claiming that his comments were both incorrect and taken out of context.
Since then, it has been ROH’s decision for Richards to pull out of forthcoming shows. He made a comment on Twitter announcing that he was done with ROH “for goodâ€. He later clarified that ROH made the decision, not himself or “any other companyâ€.
Richards had also pulled out of a string of Pro Wrestling NOAH appearances, citing a neck injury. It has since been revealed that Richards is not injured, although this is still the official reason for his cancellations. It is believed that he did cancel these shows in order to honour his WWE commitments.
