Quote:

- Former UFC fighter Phil Baroni has expressed interest in getting into pro wrestling.

- Ross and Marshall Von Erich, of the famous Von Erich wrestling family, will make their debuts on April 20th in Sedan, Kansas at a show put on by WWE Hall of Famer Harley Race.

- There are currently around 61,300 tickets out for WrestleMania 28 on Sunday from Miami. Around 2,000 remain at ticket outlets and a little over 5,000 are available on Stubhub.

- Sources are still under the impression that The Undertaker won't be retiring this year and that he will be back for another match at WrestleMania 29 in New Jersey. WWE has already been working on ideas for next year's top matches. [/quote]

As someone who has done MMA and professional wrestling, I understand Baroni's point of view. I geuinely loved performing in a ring opposed to fighting in a cell. But if he is going to do it, he must forget most of his MMA training. When people talk about MMA fighters who made it in the wrestling industry, they talk about Brock Lesnar or Ken Shamrock. They should talk about Dan Severn, but they don't. And they choose not to mention Tank Abbott. But the list of MMA guys who didn't make it is much longer than anyone realises.

There is still a chance that WrestleMania will sell out. It will suck. But it can still sell out.

Just curious. Why don't they talk about Tank Abbott or Dan Severn? I remember Dan Severn was doing both MMA matches and Pro wrestling at the same time. Shouldn't he be a perfect example that one can do both?

Abbott received a huge push, but did very poorly. He had little charisma and could not connect with the fans. And while he did very well in training, he just could not perform in the ring. Most people who remember Abbott remember the guy that beat up Monica's boyfriend in an episode of Friends. And some people thought he was Jim Neidhart from the Hart Foundation.

Personally, Severn is one of my all time favourites in both MMA and professional wrestling. He never chose to stay in any company for a really long period of time. As a result, companies weren't really willing to give him a strong push (even though he won the NWA Heavyweight Championship). When he was in MMA, he was often overlooked because of his refusal to reveal his age, and his refusal to use strikes (punches, kicks, etc.). When he was wrestling, he was often forced to work with other wrestlers known for using submission moves. And his refusal to commit to wrestling exclusively also hurt how much wrestling companies would invest in him.

So Severn is usually ignored because he was not a big star in any company when interest in the company was high.
