Hey guys,

I'm making a WWF No Mercy legends rom hack so you guys can use on the everdrive!!! I was wondering if it's possible to have the sidewalk slam to submission move use the actual ground special!!

For example, I'm using Bret Hart when he does his front special sidewalk slam to submission, the submission is always the groin headbutt instead of the Sharpshooter!

Is there a way without codes to make him use the Shapshooter or I'm I just stuck with that move???

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks.

Check Bret Hart in Showdown, he has a code that fixes this.

It looks like the AI will go for a normal grapple after doing that special, even if it has still the special flashing.

I have been using this moveset for my Bret Hart caw :
http://www.angelfire.com/wrestling2/NMCAWHQ/CAWs/BretHart.html

And after doing the front special , it will follow by the Figure 4 Leg Lock normal ground submission instead of the Sharpshooter ground special (even despite it has it in favorite).

Looks like there's no way around and you'll need a code to get the AI to go for a Sharpshooter after the front grapple special.
Too bad the AI in the Aki games isn't by default as configurable as in the Fire Pro serie.

Normally the 'Sidewalk Slam to Submission' (Front special) uses the non-special ground grapple. This code makes it use the ground special instead:
D12E641A 0A02
812E90D0 009D

This doesn't check if the character actually has a ground special, so make sure you have one or it will glitch.

Another related code:

The Counter Sidewalk Slam is linked to the ground special when used as special kick counter
D1091112 1568
810ACFC8 009D
D109155A 1568
810B1CD8 009D
D10919A2 1568
810B69E8 009D
D1091DEA 1568
810BB6F8 009D

This is useful for characters that use a ground special and don't have anything interesting as back special (the special counter kick grapple is most of the time set to the back special).

As in the OP it's about running through an Everdrive, and so on the real hardware, would all these kind of codes still work with a gameshark or are they emulation-only due to limitations of the real hardware ?

They'll work with a gameshark. These are all gameshark codes. The emulators also emulate a gameshark.

So yes, they'll work.

Damn, so I guess I'm doomed to use codes lol!! No, the reason I was asking is because when people try it on there system I don't want them to have a gameshark needed as well!!!

Ohh, well thanks guys lol!! Maybe down the line we can figure something out lol!!

Is it possible to make the AI use the ground special though, instead of going for the regular front standing strong special!! I've tried multiple times with WldFb's moveset editor to edit the moveset in the AI as I set the front special to none and made the ground leg special be the Sharpshooter but it still goes for the Front Standing Special???

As a code-less workaround, try to select the regular face up lower body ground move a move that "look like" the Sharpshooter, either the Boston Crab or Single Leg Crab.
So at least after the front special the AI will at least do a Boston Crab.

It sounds like you may be editing the move slots, but not the actual CPU intelligence.

Here is what Shamrock's AI looks like in the moveset editor - he seems to go for the ground special pretty often. He will occasionally go for the front special though, so I don't think these settings can be used to force the AI to only ever go one for specific finish. I'm guessing it just tells the AI to go for that finish most often:

Make sure you have "Special to Standing" set to "None" and "Special to Laying" set to "Ground Facing Up Leg Special". See if that works.

Yeah that's what I meant with the post above!! Though I haven't tried the fighting style technique!!

Is there a difference in fighting styles, as I'm using rough and the computer usually does more strikes and taunts, and with single-minded the computer hardly taunts and just wrestles??

I'll try a different fighting style and see if that changes anything!!
