Any updates gents? I know Jazz bro you were doing random arena/location hacks from viewing the snapshot thread, but this save excites me.

Thanks much for the comments, especially the new people that joined up for this save. I am flattered! :hi
I can't guarantee that it will be the best save ever, but I can promise that it will be the most ambitious save (from a hacking standpoint anyway), meant to take advantage of unlimited cheat code space on PJ 1.7.

I was going to preview Korakuen Hall, but my last save state file got messed up (i was using a glitchy old version of 1.7), but fortunately I kept all my codes and notes safely packed., so I'll fire it up one of these days and finish it off, there where just a few small details that needed to be worked out. After that, I'll either start on the Tokyo Dome or go back and do the Budokan or Kawasaki Stadium from scratch, using some cool new polys and hacking resources I've since found. The stuff I previewed before will be improved upon greatly!

Other updates: Even though I've not been previewing stuff or posting in this thread, I make it a goal to put in a few hours of hacking every weekend if I'm free, just trying out new things or just messing around with old addies and seeing what else they can be used for. Even if it's stuff that doesn't seem to be of much practical use at first, every once in a while I stumble across useful resources or stuff that has come in handy later.

I did a bunch of move replacement codes the other day (probably 80% of the save), and messed around with some health and damage mod stuff that I found in WldFb's forum, wanted to learn more about that aspect of the game :)
And in the past few days JC and I have been working on interface stuff, we're cooking up an original wrestler select screen design and navigation that will be completed soon. And now that I've learned about menu hacking, eventually we'll go through and mess around with the other menus too.

^o) So yes, quite a lot of work under the hood.

Well, now that I think about it, I do have something I can preview, basically redesigning the typical American large sports arena (will use in this save for a few things). Needs some refinining, but it's close to complete. The middle stands will have a few rows of crowd, and of course there will be floor crowd in the areas that are empty now.

The crowd textures are duplicated just for the sake of testing, but in the final rev, every single row of crowd is its own unique set of textures. So, one can go crazy and texture hundreds of unique audience members ^o)

Edit: the first screen looks like it is just ends abruptly at one point, but that's just a cross-section image for previewing purposes. Everything you see there (minus the stage and front crowd) is mirrored for the back section.

See that facepalm, jazz? It's because everytime you post something you're up to I have to question whether you're a fantastic hacker, or a fantastic prankster. No lie.

Wrestler selection has been such a needed update in this game, and I'm excited to see what may be brewing.

Whenever any of your tutorials are released its's gonna be huge. It's the first time I can think of that a TUTORIAL is highly anticipated.

Fantastic prankster. :p CRAZY JOKER.

Well, I'm just not very disciplined, I admit. All the stuff I hacked exists solely in savestates and notepads, the reason being was that when I first got started, I would hard code hundreds upon hundreds of lines of polygon point codes only to later think about other polygons that needed to be changed, or revised.. so as soon as I added these polys, because polygon point mods are in a dynamic area of memory, it would render all my coding useless. ^o) No fun redoing 15+ part codes over and over, as you can imagine. Thus, I want to nail all the little things down, get all the designs finalized before hard coding everything.
I guess I"m also prone to jumping around from one thing to next.. just my nature. Having a long commute to and from work, and a job that I'm kinda burned out on, and other duties that keep me busy through the week, and an often chaotic personal life-- some part of my day is spent just thinking up ideas on stuff to do. So when the weekend comes, I wanna pursue those ideas,or just hack. I have quite a few requests building up on the side, not to mention helping with 3 other saves apart from this one, so at some point, I have to get focused and just get all that stuff knocked out.

Tutorials is definitely a big thing I need to work on, though I'm not too confident about my abilities at explaining things.. when I did that additional mini-tut for WldFb's wrestler polygon point hacking, I was surprised at the lack of response/questions or the fact that no one else has seemed to use it since. Perhaps I didn't do a good job explaining? Or are people turned off at all the work involved with polygon point hacking? Everything I've been doing with arenas is 90% polygon point hacking, which is not too hard once you get the hang of it but it is very, very tedious work. I'm not trying to say that I am unsure of writing a tutorial because only a handful of people might actually use it, but what I mean is that I'm afraid of writing a bad tutorial that might make some people go "OK, that's too complex/too much work.. hacking is not for me".
Well, that's not to say I won't write a tutorial, but it's something I need to do when I get a better grasp of hacking (I'm still learning new things all the time), refine my own methods, and feel more comfortable trying to explain these things.

This is just fucking amazing Jazz bro.

I honestly would love to see a tutorial from you on all aspects of hacking arena's, Polygon point mods and so on. I love hacking and would find this valuable to any upcoming/experienced hacker. I think the NM activity in general is down, but am sure with more tutorials it would be pick up. Also, this save is really expanding beyond the "Norm" and is making my eyes pop out looking at all the amazing stuff you have done on this bro.

Phenomenal work Jazz. It's nice to see hacking taken to another level that we don't see all to often.

I'm not sure about the lack of responses, but I can tell you that I'm at least trying to start dabbing into hacking just because of the hackers like you, wwefan4life, El Guapo Tks and Wldfb (among others) just seem to be really knee deep in the good stuff when it comes to No Mercy.

I'm a slow learner. It took me three years to not COMPLETELY suck at texture modding. :)

Glad people are joining this site to see Jazz's and JC's awesome save. I am sure it will be epic beyond proportions.

Still can not believe what I am looking at with those previews. Godly.

Thanks again for all the support, especially the new people that joined to follow the progress on this save. We're still working on a ton of stuff, unfortunately, most of it is either not yet in a preview-able stage or other hacking stuff that you can't really represent with an image, so you'll just have to take my word for it ^o)
Still, with many people keeping an eye on this, I thought I should share some info until I can get more previews up.

- Dynamic main menu. The main menu room is basically another arena, so there's quite a lot of different routes one can take, as opposed to just retexturing the exisiting menu or doing a flat menu. New design will be original, but much inspired by earlier AKI games.

- Wrestler Select Menu has been expanded upon, navigation will be different too. :) Hopefully I can preview this soon.

- Gigantic roster. With the 500 cheat code limitation gone, there's really no limit to how many wrestlers can be added. This is stuff that WldFb developed quite a while back, I just expanded on it to make it easier to use (for you guys playing the save, that is. Still going to require quite a bit of work on my end! ).

- More than 4 attires is possible. So is multiple wrestlers per wrestler slot (more than 4, I mean).

I'll be doing some testing on PJ64 2.0, just to make sure there's no problem with using too many cheat codes. ^o) I could very well use up 500 cheat code slots just for the arena stuff alone, so I'm worried about the emulator not being able to handle a lot of code at once.

;) Still rough WIP, but I wanted to post something to show that this save is still very much alive! My goal is to finish up Korakuen Hall before June, so I'll be fixing crowd size/alignment, adding floor crowd & ringside commentators/ring announcer, fix up the trophy, ringside properties, fix the structure graphics, (they got reaaaally messed up somewhere along the way), of course do up the crowd.. then add a ton of activators, but more or less, this should be the first arena I get all finalized.

Absolutely amazing! I gotta ask, where can the wrestlers all walk around to? It looks like there is a ton of space for them to move around! :)

Thanks for the previews! Always love ANYTHING being posted on this!

edit: wait, what? More than 1 wrestler a slot and more than four attires?!?!?!?!?! can you please elaborate?

Think of it as this. Now you have 4 attires on a slot. You can have way way more.

Not just that, you can also have different wrestlers with different moves, profile, appearance etc in that slot. So think of it like this. This is an example of how it would work. Currently, this is what its like for anyone.

Wrestler Slot 1 Attire 1 = 80s Keiji Mutoh
Wrestler Slot 1 Attire 2 = 90s Keiji Mutoh
Wrestler Slot 1 Attire 3 = nWo Keiji Mutoh
Wrestler Slot 1 Attire 4 = Current Keiji Mutoh

This is how it will work.

Wrestler Slot 1 Attire 1 = 80s Keiji Mutoh
Wrestler Slot 1 Attire 2 = 90s Keiji Mutoh
Wrestler Slot 1 Attire 3 = nWo Keiji Mutoh
Wrestler Slot 1 Attire 4 = Current Keiji Mutoh
Wrestler Slot 1 Attire 5 = Classic Great Muta
Wrestler Slot 1 Attire 6 = Current Great Muta
Wrestler Slot 1 Attire 7 = Undertaker
Wrestler Slot 1 Attire 6 = Stone Cold

etc. All the moves will be different from each other. I was testing it out and I think you can have as many as wrestlers as you want.

This was the alternate way as adding more slots wouldn't work. Ask Jazz why for that :p

This is too much for 3:32 AM! 8 attires per slot?
