What is the best Anti-Virus software?

As some of you know I have not been very active much. There are 2 reasons..

1) My Battery died on my laptop, so I had to get a replacement, but its second hand.
2) I got a massive virus that basically ass-raped my computer, and luckily I was able to save most of my stuff on my laptop.

Now could someone be kind enough to recomment me some good, efficient and reliable anti-virus software I could use.

Believe it or not, right now Microsoft Security Essentials is your best bet, buddy. Get that, and mix it with Malwarebytes and CCleaner.

Run MSE in safe mode, then run MB in safe mode as well, then run CCleaner. You're safe bet is to run CCleaner once a month after.

Make sure you get Malwarebytes, as well. They kinda work as a team. :B-)

One word for you Avast!
Free anti-virus simply the best it's called boot scan!
Runs a scan on boot up for virus that hide in windows can't remove virus in windows when windows is running.

It used to be really good, but the last 4 or 5 months it really has been slipping, their database isn't nearly up to snuff.

I don't know, Avast was great for me and I know other people that work with Avast.

Now I have Nod32, which is great.

I use no Anti-Virus. I value every bit of RAM and so i don't let Anti-Virus take up resources. I don't download torrents since my ISP contacts you and the authorities. I download everything that i need for Download.com and *S*ISO which i've never had a problem with. Personally i just keep AVG Portable on a USB drive which'll work in the rare occasion i wanna do a scan without slowing down the pc and causing issues with gaming.

I use MSE, takes up very little resources.
