I watched wrestling for as long as I can remember, but I never wanted to be a wrestler. I went to a Smash Wrestling house show in August (at this point I'd already been recognized as "Smash family", helping set up the ring, doing music for them, etc.) and the booker tried to run the ropes and messed up, and we all laughed at him. They asked me if I ever ran the ropes, and gave me the lesson on how to. I started, gained speed, and before I knew it I was sprinting across the ring hitting the ropes full on, to the point that the producer yelled "You're a natural!" and ever since then I've been itching to do it. There's even a local guy who debuted for them that month, and seeing his progression over the past little bit inspired me heavily. I had a really great talk with him at a recent show and I'm craving wrestling so much that I can't even backyard wrestle anymore because it leaves too much to be desired.
It's a positive influence, because I've really been trying to get into shape before I find a good wrestling school. I'm 17 and already 6'0 and have a good build. I just went from 210lbs to 180lbs on DDP Yoga and I'm getting back into weight training soon. I have my entire gimmick planned, and my promo chops are pretty amazing due to me being a hip hop artist for 5 years and learning to freestyle and stuff. I'm a big fan of all styles of wrestling and I understand concepts of storytelling and maneuvers that I think might give me a bit of an upper hand going into training.
