Thank you both for the warm welcome! Even though I'm not actively hacking anymore, this world will always hold a special place in my heart, and I'm gonna do my best to stop by here every now an then. Some of my best teenage days were spent in the HC forums, and I will never forget them...
Yep, you read that right...when I first started hacking WM2K, I was 13 years old. I never told anyone that back then because I didn't want to be written off as "just a kid" to the big dogs like goatman, Pelican, tokidoim, etc. Those 3 guys, and jred (can't forget him) were my inspiration to get into hacking when I did. I had just gotten dial-up Internet service at home and was playing WM2K religiously. I had also just bought a GameShark, and I decided to ask Jeeves for some codes for the game. A couple hours later (so, 2 or 3 websites later on dial-up) I stumbled upon a post by jred talking about some new addys tokidoim had found related to player animations. It instantly grabbed my attention, and I spent the next few hours messing around with them and figuring out how they worked and how to use the memory editor. About 5 or 6 hours later I made my first post, and the rest is history.
...ok, I'll stop there. Sorry for the autobiography excerpt, and sorry for the references some of the younger players have probably never heard of (i.e. "dial up" and "Ask Jeeves").
I wish (and hope) some of the old crew is still around or someday finds this forum too; I think they would enjoy going back and re-living some of those moments like I am right now. It would also be cool to get back in touch with some of them!
